This internship is with Monkeypaw Productions in Los Angeles, CA, but is part of the Academy Gold Program, an 8-week internship enhancement program that incorporates learning opportunities including an intensive two-day orientation, weekly panels, exclusive networking events, workshops, screenings, and mentorship opportunities with Academy members. The Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and creative Development Intern to join the Monkeypaw Productions team! In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the team with various day-to-day tasks relating to Development. Our Summer 2025 internship runs from June - August. Interns will be fully in-office and work around 20 hours per week from our headquarters in Los Angeles. The position is paid at the rate of $17.28/hour.

Our work challenges the conventional architecture of genre storytelling from horror to science fiction to social satire, while balancing avant garde visual language with undeniably contagious fun.

In this role you will:

  • Support the Development team to further Monkeypaw’s mission
  • Complete coverage and deliver feedback on incoming submissions and internal materials in a timely manner (Film & TV scripts, decks, treatments, graphic novels, books, etc.)
  • Conduct research assignments and contribute to ideating and sharpening creative lists (including recommending valuable talent)
  • Take notes during internal/external pitch meetings and weekly department meetings
  • Update the creative databases/grids frequently with talent names, reps (agents/managers), samples, and credits
  • Receive exposure to the duties of a creative producer
  • Own day-to-day office tasks that contribute to general business operations (including but not limited to welcoming guests at the office, running errands, binding scripts for executives, occasional scheduling and phone coverage, etc.)
  • Complete other tasks as assigned with an adaptable and flexible energy
 
Position Requirements

About you:

  • Community College, Trade School, and University Undergraduate or Graduate students from Class of 2026 or 2027 in good academic standing. Recent grads are also welcome to apply.
  • Previous internship/work experience
  • Reliable transportation required (valid US driver’s license a plus)
  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Consistent attention to detail and copy-editing skills
  • Proficient in GSuite and tech-savvy
  • Demonstrated creative thinking skills
  • Bias toward action, highly collaborative
  • Passion for the craft of Film & TV, the art of storytelling, and unique intellectual property (video games, comics, etc.)
