Manager, Membership, Impact and Industry 

Description

The Manager of Membership, Impact and Industry, will be responsible for all project management and logistics for any Academy multicultural membership engagement and industry relations efforts. Reporting to the Director of Member and Industry Relations, you will be responsible for facilitating the implementation and day-to-day operations of the Academy Affinity Group member program which focuses on providing community and advocacy for underrepresented communities within the Academy membership. You will work collaboratively and strategically with Academy members, external industry partners, and internal staff departments to ensure that all ongoing projects are on track to meet department objectives.

The candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about establishing the Academy's position in the industry as a year-round organization as well as a commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute operations of the Affinity Group program including organizing committee meetings, planning group events, maintaining program milestones, documentation (program plans, reporting, status updates), presentation materials, and tracking budgets.
  • Facilitate outreach to studios, agencies, guilds, and community organizations to partner on Academy member and industry initiatives.
  • Build relationships with Academy members from underrepresented communities across disciplines to ensure Affinity Group programs are effectively serving the target audience.
  • Collaborate with multiple Academy departments on member communications related to Affinity Groups through email or the Academy Member App.
  • Provide administrative membership and awards-related support for the Actors and Producers branches and Members-at-Large (Artists' Representatives).
  • Research potential films, filmmakers, and companies across the global industry to amplify year-round as part of the Academy's Aperture initiative.
  • Serve as a liaison to the executive office, ensuring a high level of confidentiality for sensitive information and materials.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in arts, film media, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience, with a proven record of successful program development, launch, and management.
  • Experience building and supporting multicultural and DEAI initiatives, and building relationships with the Asian, Black, Disability, Indigenous, Latinx, LGBTQ+, and MENAxWANA communities.
  • Excellent written communication skills and experience drafting email correspondence for large audiences.
  • Experience in organizing and planning live events.
  • Experience navigating and facilitating conversations on complex racial and sociopolitical issues.
  • Demonstrate high-level knowledge of key film industry players and trends.
  • Ability to work discreetly and professionally with high-level executives, talent, and the Board of Governors; work professionally and gracefully with Academy members and the public.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience with relational databases a plus; CRM desired.
  • Able to work and meet deadlines under pressure and handle multiple ongoing projects at once.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build relationships, and deliver results in a complex, cross-functional organization.
  • Night and weekend work may be required and may be assigned on short notice.

The expected salary for this role is $72,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
