Deputy Lab Manager 

Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Deputy Lab Manager to join our dynamic team in the Defense industry at the Patuxent Naval Air Station. As a Deputy Lab Manager, you will play an important role in supporting the overall operation, management, and system integration of a new state-of-the-art System Integration Lab (SIL) on station. Leadership, communication, and technical skills will be instrumental in maintaining a high standard of quality and compliance within Cyber and Network regulations. You will work closely with the Lab Manager to oversee daily activities, coordinate with various teams, and ensure that all lab operations align with program objectives. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge platforms and systems which have national security implications. The focus of this SIL will be aircraft system hardware conducting system-of-system testing, therefore the candidate must have experience with aircraft systems, integration, and hardware-in-the-loop involving Satellite Communications (SATCOM).  The candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills, capable of balancing a variety of tasking, and be able to provide technical expertise involving the integration of SATCOM hardware in a lab environment. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lab Manager in overseeing daily lab operations and personnel management.
  • Provide technical expertise regarding the integration of aircraft SATCOM systems with other platform avionics systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards within the laboratory.
  • Coordinate and schedule laboratory testing and facility usage among teams.
  • Support the development and implementation of laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring it is functional, current, and held under configuration management guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to lab staff regarding system operations, troubleshooting.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Science, or related discipline).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a laboratory environment or technical hands on experience with aircraft / SATCOM hardware.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and balance a variety of tasking.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact with diverse stakeholders.
 
Salary Range 80K-150K and will commensurate with experience  
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Level of Clearance Required Secret Eligible  
Amount of Travel Minimal
