Description

Position summary

  • The Key Account Manager is responsible for selling/promoting the business's products and establishing/maintaining relationships between Palmer Holland and other notable businesses within the chemical industry.

Essential tasks of the position

  • The Key Account Manager is responsible for promoting Palmer Holland's capabilities and enhancing relationships with key customers by endorsing products, developing and delivering sales presentations, and altogether cultivating relationships at the executive level;
  • Developing and implementing sales plans and account plans
  • Documenting quotes and sales contract reviews as well as assisting in contract negotiations with suppliers and customers;
  • Reporting sales performance to management;
  • Developing territories and product line promotions and closing deals with suppliers and customers;
  • Forecasting;
  • Being a strong leader and motivator of people;
  • Maintaining contact with principals and customers;
  • Analyzing sales statistics to determine sales potential and inventory requirements and monitoring the preferences of customers in order to develop products and maximize profits;
  • Conforming to the company quality system as documented;
  • Any other task assigned or special projects.

Management Team responsibilities:

  • Directs preparation of directives to management outlining policy, program, or operations changes to be implemented.
  • Attends and participates in company-wide employee meetings and formal meetings of managers.
  • Any other task at the request of management.

Quality:

Activities of the position affect quality including quality objectives. Responsibilities and authorities include where appropriate:

  • Initiating action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process or quality system, up to and including when necessary stopping production to correct quality problems.
  • Identifying and recording any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Documenting problems, steps taken for resolution and preventative action in CRM software and notifying all parties required.
  • Initiating, recommending or providing solutions through designated channels.
  • Verifying the implementation of solutions in areas under your control.
  • Controlling further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Performing duties and tasks as prescribed in company policies, procedures and work instructions.

Position Requirements

Education: 

  • 4 year degree or equivalent in a field applicable to our associated industries.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in sales and/or sales management including managing and executing product sales.
  • The Enterprise Account Manager must also have prior established relationships with key chemical industry businesses including, but not limited to, PPG, Valspar, Behr Processing, Sherwin Williams, Henkel, Sika, and Akzo Nobel.

Training:

  • Assessment techniques of examining, questioning, evaluating and reporting sales.
  • Additional skills required for managing sales, such as planning, organizing, communicating.

 

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Industry, product and application knowledge relative to the business of Palmer Holland as determined by the President or Vice President of Sales.
  • Intermediate level of expertise in MS Office and Contact Management Software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct that exemplifies the corporate policies at all times, particularly when interacting directly with internal and external customers
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
  • Detail oriented with strong, accurate clerical skills
  • Proficient at multi-tasking
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Highly motivated
