Description

Pennswood Village, a Senior Living Community, located in Newtown, PA, Bucks County, has a full-time opportunity for a Charge LPN to work in Personal Care.  

Full-time; 3 - 11:30 pm,

The LPN is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibility delegated to her/him so long as such action does not deviate from established policy and practice as defined by Pennswood Village and the current Pennsylvania LPN Practice Act in the supervision of and delivery of health care services in the Skilled Nursing Facility.

  • Apply the nursing process to patients and their families in the Health Center and to residents and their families in their homes to provide for their health care needs.
  • Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the individual patient plan of care as a part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate and objective written and oral communication.
  • Function as a professional LPN under the direct supervision of the RN in charge or, in the absence of an RN, function as the nurse in charge.
  • Carry out professional responsibilities both independently and in collaboration with other staff. Plan and manage patient care assignments.
  • Responsible for distribution of prescribed medications to residents.
  • Provide demonstration, supervision, and evaluation of care given by nurses aides and the orientation of new staff.
  • Participate in the development of the patient care policies and the standards of nursing practices.
  • Establish safe and accurate working habits in the delivery of individual patient care.
  • Consistently seek to extend professional knowledge and improve skills.
  • Maintain and ensure the personal rights of all patients through knowledge and leadership in advocating the Patient's Bill of Rights.
  • Actively participate in monitoring the medical alert and fire alarm systems.
  • Perform clinical laboratory procedures.
 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.

Licensed to practice as an LPN in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

CPR Certified.

Additional education in physical assessment.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

Prior experience in geriatrics preferred.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to meet the physical demands of the position, i.e., lifting a minimum of 20 lbs., bending, transferring of patients. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
