Schedule Minimum availability of 3 weekdays per week (i.e. Monday ' Friday); 4 hours per day between 8:45am and 5:15pm; approximately 14 ' 29 hours per week; and occasional weekends and some holidays. This is a part time temporary position.  
Position Requirements

Ideal candidate is a team player with the ability to work in a dynamic, boisterous, ever-changing environment; has a passion for interacting with young children; ability to think creatively; and research information pertaining to early childhood.  Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with young children, primarily birth to 3rd grade; parents; teachers; and Team Members required.  Must have the ability to present with enthusiasm and excitement to young audiences and their families.  Educational background in early childhood development and education, or equivalent experience required.  

 
Description

OBJECTIVE:  Support COSI’s mission of sparking interest, piquing curiosity, and turning very young children and their parents on to the process of learning and discovering more about the world around them.  Interact with Guests as they explore little kidspace® and assist in the daily operations of area programs and floor.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:

A.  Participate in work related to COSI’s Strategic Areas of Focus of Early Childhood Education as needed to ensure the success of this initiative for COSI.

B.  Interact with Guests, both children and adults, to enhance their interactions with exhibits during operational hours.  Provide Guests with a sense of community and caring when they enter the space.  Also, facilitate all curriculum held within little kidspace® such as bucket curriculum on the floor and in the hangout room, little kidspace shows as well as any special activities throughout COSI.

C.  Develop and maintain a thorough working knowledge of area including:
•  little kidspace® philosophy, policies, and operation.
•  Function and operation of all exhibits, program elements, and curriculum.
•  Setup, cleanup, maintenance, animal care, and emergency procedures.

D.  Lead with excitement, generate ideas for and assist with special area demonstrations and early childhood programs when requested, including birthday parties and early childhood workshops (infant, toddler, preschool, kindergarten, family, field trips, mini-camps); both internally and externally, representing COSI throughout the community.

E.  Participate with little kidspace® Full-Time Team Members and Part Time Supervisors in the ongoing development of adult and student Volunteers as requested (ex. Evaluations, trainings, etc.).

F.  Perform necessary maintenance, set-up, and teardown of program materials and exhibition spaces, for daily operations and special events.

G.  Assist in training new Team Members, paid and Volunteer, in the area.

H.  Perform duties, as required, for special events.

I.  Support general COSI operations through participation in meetings as appropriate.

J.  Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members and Volunteers in matters of appearance, attitude, and performance in a manner best serving COSI paid and Volunteer Team Members and Guests.

K.  In accordance with COSI's Guest Services Strategy, and as opportunities present themselves, provide excellence in Guest Services by assuring Guest safety, using courtesy to drive each Guest interaction, by delivering the COSI show, and by keeping operations efficient. 

L.  Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Early Childhood Operations.
