Community First Health Centers is a patient centered federally qualified health center committed to providing comprehensive and compassionate care to people of all ages. We are seeking a qualified and caring OB/GYN physician to join our team; The ideal candidate will be passionate about women's health, experienced in obstetrics and gynecology, and eager to work in a collaborative, supportive environment. the OB/GYN will be responsible to establish a comprehensive, community based, women and infant care program. The overall program will be designed to include health maintenance, health education, pre and postnatal health care for women and infants. This position will work at the New haven Medical Clinic located at 58144 Gratiot Avenue, New Haven, MI 48048.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops a plan of care for each patient, including: Complete medical history, physical examination, diagnosis of the causes of injuries and illnesses, appropriate treatment and/or referral, and provide both Aon call@ coverage and hospital visits when necessary and/or as arranged by mutual agreement between the physician and Downriver.
  • Stress the importance of preventative medicine and utilizes all available resources, such as laboratory and radiologic testing as aids in diagnosing and confirming or denying the presence of disease.
  • Practices medicine by caring for all patients without discrimination as regards to age, race, color, national origin, ethnicity, sex, sexual preference, weight, handicap or income.
  • Confers with consulting physicians, nurses, patients and patients' relatives concerning treatment and care of patients, using good care and diligence as to confidentiality.
  • Refers those cases which require specialist services, adhering to managed care contracts, principles, guidelines, using established and approved provider networks, but will maintain responsibility for assuring that those services are required.
  • Participation in practice development, quality assurance, peer review, staff meetings/activities as deemed necessary by the Medical Director and/or the Quality Director.
  • Utilizes and monitors the clinical work of other providers and support staff with whom the Physician works, reporting any concerns or deficiencies to the Medical Director and Operational leadership.
  • Maintain accurate and concise documentation of all patient encounters on a timely basis, in such manner and form as determined by Downriver, third-party payers, federal funding and national accreditation agencies with which Downriver has agreements and/or obligations.
  • Provide coordinated and comprehensive patient care, including but not limited to medical evaluation, direction, consultation, and follow up care for patients of the Practice as appropriate in the specialty of Obstetrics/Gynecology while assuring Physician is present and ready to see patients for their scheduled appointments.
  • Shall provide on-call coverage as is appropriate and customary for physicians of Downriver and the patients served.
  • Provide leadership for clinic and community relations and maintain active liaison with members of the medical community through Medical or Professional Staff membership and participation in Medial or Professional activities. Contribute to the developing, planning, organizing, and directing Downriver’s Obstetrics/Gynecology programs.
  • Accept all patients who present themselves to the Practice for treatment or who are referred to the Physician, regardless of the patients medical insurance, ability to pay, or participation in any managed care or alternative health care deliver programs.
  • Systematically assess patients’ health status, arrive at appropriate diagnosis(es), and implement care plan for effective clinical outcomes;
  • Consider a thorough range of treatment/preventive options and arrive at a recommended course of action that is age appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
    1. Appropriately manage patient care and health status following initiation of treatment/preventive plan and monitors and adjusts as warranted.
    2. Communicate effectively with patients and family so that they understand their diagnosis, treatment plans and need for follow-up care.
    3. Educate and encourage patients to become an active participant in their own health care related behavior and provide patient education materials for use in encouraging wellness.
    4. Seek consultation and advice by providing adequate information to consulting physicians and communicate requests effectively or respond to such requests from the referral source in a courteous, professional, and timely manner.
    5. Document according to established guidelines to facilitate ongoing quality of care in a timely manner.
    6. Perform appropriate medical procedures within the scope of practice as defined by Downriver’s credentialing and privileging process.
    7. Delegate direct and indirect patient care activities to appropriate personnel.
    8. Respond appropriately to emergent situations.
    9. Review and follow-up on complaints and concerns about medical care.
    10. Take action to assure continuity of care for patients. .
    11. Contribute to effective and efficient practice management policies and practices that support patient access to medical careCollaborate in establishing production numbers to be budgeted and achieve targeted goal.
  • Support appropriate billing for professional services through timely documentation and maintaining adequate knowledge of Downriver billing policies and procedures.
  • Perform such additional services as Downriver may reasonably request from time to time to facilitate efficient practice.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • Valid medical license to practice in Michigan
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills in obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and bedside manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.
  • BLS Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred but not required.
