POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead Facility Custodian will have a meticulous eye for detail, ensuring the winery reflects the highest standards of hospitality and care. This individual will be responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of all areas of the winery both interior and exterior. They will monitor the work of the Custodian Team Members and provide them with guidance and support. The Lead Facility Custodian will also be responsible for providing daytime and/or evening Events support, as needed. This individual will create work calendars and oversee special cleaning projects. The Lead Facility Custodian will also perform general cleaning duties including trash, recycling, compost disposal practices,sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and reordering and restocking supplies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead the Facility Custodian Team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and high-quality cleaning services.
  • Inspect and ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all areas within the winery, enforcing established standards and promptly addressing any issues.
  • Observe the custodians’ work performance within assigned section on a regular basis to ensure the standards and productivity levels are being met and maintained.
  • Monitor and manage supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels and coordinating orders as necessary.
  • Create work calendars, assign tasks, and distribute workload among Custodian Team to ensure timely and thorough completion of cleaning responsibilities.
  • Support the Facility Manager in identifying and addressing requests or concerns as it relates to the cleanliness, providing solutions in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure efficient maintenance and repair of items related to guest areas and all other areas of the winery.
  • Perform Facility Custodian duties and support the team in ensuring the winery is kept up to standards.
  • Creates a service environment focused on the guest and employee experience, with a passion for high standards in cleanliness.
  • Monitor cleanliness and orderliness of all custodian closets and carts.
  • Attends training and seminars on safety issues, and trains custodial staff in the proper use of chemicals, tools and equipment, and other safety and security procedures.
  • Responsible for leading custodians effectively during shift and that all work is being performed to standard.
  • Report to the Facility Manager any employee relation issues, performance issues.
  • Holds routine meetings with the Custodian team, outlining updates, important information and encouraging feedback that would assist in providing a safer and collaborative work environment.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work area in all custodial storage areas.
  • Assists in the movement of furniture, materials and equipment as required. Plays a significant role in the Green Initiative by communicating to the Facility Manager, disposal practices that are not being followed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of increasingly responsible experience in custodian work, including two years of experience in a Lead capacity
  • High school education or equivalent in training and experience
  • Bilingual English and Spanish
  • Flexible on schedule changes and must be comfortable working on an alternative work schedule (9/80)
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and the ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Proficient in utilizing MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams)

 

Physical ability to perform tasks that may require prolonged standing, sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds, and other activities necessary to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Working Conditions/ Hazards:

Work is performed in various environments: indoor, outdoor, hot, cold. The individual will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic chemicals, electrical hazards, and fumes or airborne particles relative to normal cellar processes. Occasionally works near moving machinery parts. Noise levels are usually moderate to loud.

Accident prevention is of utmost importance in all phases of job responsibilities.

  • Follow all company policies and procedures including job safety, safety rules and regulations.
  • Assist management to provide safe and healthy working conditions at all times.
  • Immediately report all unsafe conditions, work-related accidents, and illnesses to the Safety Manager and your supervisor.

COMPENSATION: Base Compensation Range: $25.00 – $35.00 USD hourly*

* The base compensation range is base salary only. In addition to base compensation, all roles are eligible for individual performance bonus and company bonus that range from role to role.
