As part of the institution's strategic plan, a 200-bed residential hall has been built, enabling students to live and pursue their chosen field of study on campus.   Description Position purpose The assistant chair for math and sciences will report to the president and the vice-president of academic affairs concerning all administrative functions of the department. Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks Develop math/science course schedules Following the hiring process detailed in the faculty handbook, oversee the hiring of full-time and adjunct math science faculty Conduct/coordinate/support assessment meetings with math/science faculty Following the process detailed in the college catalog, work to resolve student grade appeals in math/science classes As applicable, assist with professional and regional accreditation efforts All other duties as assigned. **Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience Requirements PhD or MS in math, physics, chemistry or a related discipline Applicants must be full-time faculty members teaching math/science classes Professional Skills Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word and Excel.
