The Position:

Holland Bloorview is seeking a psychologist to perform developmental assessments for children and youth under the age of 18 years six months (at the time of referral) within the communication, learning and behaviour service. This is a temporary full-time position (1.0 FTE) for a 12-month contract. We welcome applicants with full-time and/or part-time availability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Primary focus is on assessment of children and youth, as well as the provision of feedback, consultation, and education to the client and family with a focus on maximizing strengths
  • In collaboration with clients/families and the interdisciplinary team, provides client and family centred care which is goal oriented, evidence based and outcome oriented
  • Bases practice on established Holland Bloorview policies, procedures, evidence and best practice
  • Contributes to the development of program/service activities
  • Works with client and family to set goals that are targeted with measurable outcomes
  • Works with members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure an integrated approach to service
  • Utilizes research to establish and support evidence-based practice
  • Provides education both formal and informal to clients/families, colleagues, students and others within the organization and the community
  • Engages in support of quality improvement
  • Actively supports client and family centred care
  • Some evening & weekend work may be required
  • Participates in quality improvement initiatives, supports the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advances a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices
  • Holland Bloorview is a teaching hospital and runs an accredited Predoctoral Psychology Internship Program
  • Participates in supervision of graduate level psychology students completing hospital placements and contributes to discipline learning through didactics, presentations and group discussions

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Psychology
  • Current Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO)  required with declared competencies in Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents
  • Previous job related experience working with children and families required
  • Previous job related experience working with clients with autism, neurological conditions and developmental disabilities required
  • Extensive ADOS-2 administration, scoring and interpretation is required
  • ADOS-2 reliability is considered an asset. Experience working with an interdisciplinary team preferred
  • Candidates under supervised practice will also be considered
