Description

Position summary

  • PH Business Managers act as the primary liaison between Palmer Holland and our principal partners (manufacturers)
  • This position is strategic to our business, and the fulfillment of the duties and responsibilities contribute to the overall success of Palmer Holland.  General responsibilities include:
    • Portray properly our professional image by phone, in writing and in person across our Principal base, internal customers and external customers
    • Execute against the company’s growth strategy while also supporting the Sales, Service Operations and Asset Management teams
    • Support the Senior Management team and participate in various projects that affect the marketing efforts of the company as requested
    • Maintain a commitment to the company’s Core Values as well as the Way We Work
    • Promote the organization across the trade organizations for the industries that we serve

 

Essential tasks of the position

  1.  Core Tasks
    1. Promote both the breadth and the depth of each assigned principal relationship by identifying and subsequently tracking both decision-makers & influencers in the partners’ organizations
    2. Execute against Palmer Holland’s growth strategy to extend geographic reach across company’s entire selling region
    3. Support execution of Palmer Holland’s Enterprise Account Management strategy specific to the role that our principals play in its success
    4. Understand/disseminate Principals’ sales and marketing strategies, as well as annual expectations
    5. Execute on financial responsibilities, including:
      1. Establishing/monitoring company income targets
      2. Identifying opportunities for margin enhancement
      3. Managing Opportunity Pipeline specific to individual Principals
      4. Providing pricing guidance to PH sellers
    6. Assist with the collection of competitive/market intelligence
    7. Facilitate joint travel efforts across Palmer Holland Sales Team
    8. Assist with contingency planning
    9. Assist with inventory management
    10. Promote/facilitate synergies between Principals
    11. Support the Sales Team by way of joint travel/companion selling
  2. Project Tasks
    1. Establish and/or facilitate product/technical training for PH sellers
    2. Champion market research/lead generation activities
    3. Review/execute Supply Agreements
    4. Assist in pursuit of new product lines
  3. Administrative Tasks
    1. Report accurately on the following:
      1. Sales variance (standard)
      2. Special reporting requirements (as specified by the principal)
    2. Conduct Business Review meetings (quarterly, biannually, monthly Sales History review, etc.)
    3. Execute transition/rationalization efforts
    4. Monitor trade show/conference activities
    5. Maintain Principal Management databases

 

Quality:

Activities of the position affect quality including quality objectives. Responsibilities and authorities include where appropriate:

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process or quality system, up to and including when necessary stopping production to correct quality problems.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Document problems, steps taken for resolution and preventative action in CRM software and notifying all parties required.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions in areas under your control.
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Perform duties and tasks as prescribed in company policies, procedures and work instructions.

Position Requirements

Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field preferred 

Experience:

  • 10 + years in a related industry

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Intermediate level of expertise in MS Office and Contact Management Software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct that exemplifies the corporate policies at all times, particularly when interacting directly with internal and external customers
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
  • Detail oriented with strong, accurate clerical skills
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Highly motivated

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Satisfactory motor skills relevant to position
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
