POSITION SUMMARY: The part-time Admissions Counselor represents Moravian both on- and off-campus to prospective students, parents, secondary school counselors, and other individuals or organizations involved in the university search and selection process. This individual will work to generate interest from appropriate students, communicate institutional value to those students, and evaluate applications for admission from those students. The part-time Admissions Counselor will be on campus as necessary; it is a seasonal position. This position will have a primary recruitment area to support but will be expected to support all members of the admissions team as needs arise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a member of the Admission Team assisting with the recruitment of prospective students to achieve the enrollment goals for Moravian University.
- Implement recruitment strategies as outlined in the admissions plan, and aid in the recruitment of prospective students by attending high school and/or community college visits, college fairs, area receptions, and events.
- Work with students and parents to communicate the value of a Moravian education.
- Conduct informational presentations about Moravian University to groups during high school visits or other off-campus events.
- Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities that exist at Moravian University.
- Provide follow-up to students and parents via phone, letters, email, and scheduled appointments as necessary.
- Evaluate applications for admission and make admission recommendations/decisions.
- Complete appropriate reports related to job effectiveness.
- Evaluate and assess recruitment activities and make ongoing improvements.
- Work within all NACAC guidelines to ensure a best practices approach to admissions.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates are required to have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college; enthusiasm for representing Moravian University to prospective students, their parents, secondary school counselors, and other college constituencies; interest in and ability to recruit students to Moravian University; ability to communicate the value of a Moravian University education; ability to work cooperatively in a team environment, as well as an ability to work autonomously; effective oral and written communication skills; an appreciation for diversity, and for the strategic goals of Moravian University; ability to relate effectively to students from a variety of backgrounds; an ability to effectively and efficiently solve problems; a sense of humor. One year of experience in college admission, or time spent as a student tour guide is desirable. Candidates must be willing to undertake extensive travel involving varied hours and occasional weekend commitments. Experience with word processing, computational, and e-mail software is essential.
