Position Requirements

Candidates must be flexible, energetic, and able to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.  Ideal candidates will possess exemplary leadership, organizational, and communication skills.  Candidate should be a creative problem solver, who is diplomatic, mature, dependable and responsible.  3-5 years of supervisory experience is required, preferably in a customer service, museum, or security setting. The ability to maintain a high level of energy and stamina for long periods of time is essential.  A valid Driver’s License; the ability to meet the insurance guidelines set by COSI’s insurance company for driving COSI vehicles (two or fewer points on BMV record is used as a general guideline); and the ability to maintain insurability under COSI’s policy is also required. Must currently have or obtain upon relocation, a Driver’s License issued by the State of Ohio.  A college degree in a related field preferred.


OBJECTIVE: Support COSI’s mission by providing leadership and direction for the Guest & Safety Services team.  Ensure the consistent delivery of COSI concierge level service and a high level of safety and security for all internal and external constituents.



  1. Manage and lead all Guest & Safety Services paid Team Members.  This includes hiring, training, evaluation, professional development, and discipline, as well as scheduling in accordance with operating requirements and divisional labor budget
  2. Maintain accurate payroll records and cross-billing for all hours worked by Guest & Safety Services Team Members.
  3. Create and maintain a comprehensive training program for all Guest & Safety Services Team Members – focus on understanding and delivering COSI concierge level guest service and maintaining all necessary security enforcement skills.
  4. Act as Guest Supervisor on Duty (GSOD) at least 40% of COSI open operations, including participation on COSI’s First Aid Response Team.
  5. Provide operational coverage for Guest & Safety Services team member absences when necessary.  Including working directly with guests, providing security monitoring assistance, and interior and exterior building patrol when required.
  6. Work in conjunction with the Guest Relations Team Leader for Volunteers to provide consistent training, evaluation, coaching, and discipline to all volunteer team members in Guest & Safety Services.
  7. Work closely with COSI’s Diversity and Inclusion team members to ensure ADA standards compliance and as well as standard safety guidelines.  Seek out new and innovative ways to better serve COSI Guests; especially advocating for increased accessibility when it is possible
  8. Provide on-going evaluation of current institutional safety and security policies and procedures.  In conjunction with the Director of Guest Relations suggest and implement updates as necessary.
  9. Develop and maintain strong, cooperative working relationships with all COSI Team Members.
  10. Represent Guest & Safety Services at the twice monthly Mobilization Team meeting, and the bi-weekly Guest Relations Managers meeting.
  11. Support general COSI operations through participation in other meetings as appropriate.
  12. Serve as an example to other COSI Team Members in matters of appearance, attitude, and performance in a manner best serving COSI paid and Volunteer Team Members and Guests.
  13. In accordance with COSI's Guest Services Strategy and as opportunities present themselves; provide excellence in Guest Services by assuring Guest safety, using courtesy to drive each Guest interaction, by delivering the COSI show, and by keeping operations efficient.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Guest Relations
