Position Summary

Under the direction of the Shop Foreman. This role involves performing a wide range of general duties, such as:

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Proficient in various welding techniques such as MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), Stick welding, and possibly others depending on the project.
  • Perform welds using these techniques accurately and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding symbols is essential for a combination welder.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of different types of materials commonly used in welding, such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel. They should understand the characteristics of each material and how to work with them effectively.
  • Conduct safety procedures and precautions, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), fire prevention measures, and safe handling of welding equipment.
  • Analyze problems, identify solutions, and adjust ensure the quality and integrity of the welds.
  • Pay close attention to measurements, angles, and weld quality to ensure the final product meets the required specifications.
  • Collaborate with other welders, fabricators, and supervisors.
  • Exhibits and practices the Third Coast Way fundamental behaviors.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 3+ months of industrial/construction/general labor experience

Skills and Competencies:

  • Familiarity with different welding techniques (TIG, MMA, etc.).
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings.
  • Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Completion of a relevant apprenticeship program.
  • Professional certification (e.g., AWS welding certificate) is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use their hands to handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
  • The team member frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • The team member is occasionally required to sit.
  • The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally move or manipulate drums weighing between 200-500 pounds.
