Welcome to the "What's Next District.” AREA15 is seeking a skilled and motivated BI Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with modern BI data stacks, including AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Looker, Airflow, and Stitch, as well as traditional data engineering responsibilities. This role is crucial in maintaining and enhancing all BI reporting needs for the organization, involving both existing and new reports, data analysis, ETL flows, and the movement of data for transactional purposes. The BI Data Engineer will also collaborate closely with the web engineering team and various business owners to ensure seamless data integration and reporting. The position comes with an opportunity to make a significant impact on the organization’s BI capabilities.   RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Maintain and Enhance Data Pipeline Processes Design, develop, and maintain robust pipeline and integration processes. Ensure the efficient movement and transformation of data between systems. Optimize workflows for performance and scalability. Work with AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, and other data storage solutions to integrate data from various sources. Extensive API experience Utilize tools like Stitch and Airflow for seamless data ingestion and orchestration. Partner with Technology leadership] to ensure data alignment and integrity. Collaborate with business owners to understand their data needs and deliver appropriate solutions. Implement data quality checks and governance practices. Ensure compliance with data security and privacy regulations. Experience with data observability tools such as Metaplane. Maintain and enhance existing Looker reports. Develop new reports to support business needs. Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and performance of all BI reporting solutions. Conduct in-depth data analysis to support business decisions. Provide actionable insights through data visualization and reporting tools. Exhibit ART! (AREA15's service standards) at all times. Adhere to department and company policies and procedures. Be available to respond to time-sensitive matters. Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to AREA15 standards. Proficiency in AWS Redshift and Google BigQuery for data warehousing and analytics. Strong SQL skills for querying and managing relational databases. Knowledge of data lake architectures and tools like Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage. Experience with containerized cloud systems Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining pipeline processes. Experience with tools like Stitch, Airflow, and Fivetran Proficiency in data ingestion and orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow. Familiarity with data integration patterns and practices. Strong understanding of data modeling concepts, including star schema and snowflake schema. Experience with dimensional and normalized data modeling. Ability to design and optimize data architectures for performance and scalability. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Java, or Scala. Experience with data processing frameworks like Apache Spark or Hadoop. Knowledge of version control systems like Git. Experience with BI and data visualization tools like Looker. Ability to create and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations. Implementing data quality checks and ensuring data integrity. Familiarity with data governance practices and tools. Understanding of data security and privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure. Familiarity with cloud-based data services and infrastructure. Ability to optimize database performance through indexing, partitioning, and query optimization. Experience with performance tuning of ETL processes and data pipelines. Proficiency in monitoring data pipelines and workflows. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues promptly. Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools like AWS CloudWatch, Google Stackdriver, or ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana). Experience with collaboration and project management tools like Jira, Confluence, or Trello. Ability to document processes, workflows, and data architectures effectively. Ability to analyze complex data sets and derive meaningful insights. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 5+ years previous experience in a data engineering role is required. Experience with modern BI data stacks and tools. Familiarity with web engineering and integration practices. Bachelors or Masters Degree in BI, Data Analytics, or Computer Science Experience in establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships. Ability to commute between office and venue(s). Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Ability to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
