Experience and understanding of carpentry, plumbing, and general building maintenance is necessary for success in this position.   Summary: Primary responsibility is to maintain the structural, visual and sanitary conditions of the buildings in the base operations area.   Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for the carpentry, painting and general building maintenance Repair minor plumbing problems Repair minor electrical problems Remove snow and ice from base lodge walking areas Maintain landscaping during summer months This position supervises the cleaning crew during the summer and winter seasons. Perform general custodial duties as needed (i.e. replace light bulbs, trash removal, etc.) Order cleaning supplies Repair and paint out-buildings as needed Responsible for trash removal in the base lodge Must be able to use bucket loader, toolcat, and snow blower. Other duties as assigned   Qualifications and Competencies: Skilled in carpentry, painting and general building maintenance preferred Work indoors and/or outdoors for extended periods Able to lift / carry 40 lbs on uneven terrain repeatedly throughout the day Must be a self-starter, able to work with minimum supervision Must be flexible with hours and days Must be willing to work indoors and outdoors     Position Requirements Supervisory Responsibility: Hiring, training, scheduling, and leading this team is part of the responsibilities of this position. Responsible for hiring and managing an assistant during winter periods.   Work Environment: This job operates both indoors and outdoors throughout the year. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computer, phones, and photocopiers as well as building construction and landscaping equipment.   Physical Demands: This is a physically active role requiring several hours of standing and working outdoors; includes shoveling snow, replacing windows, working on roof / exposed areas.
