Job Title: Grant Compliance Specialist

Location: Washington, DC

 

Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) seeks a motivated individual interested in growing in their career to join our expanding team as the Grant Compliance Specialist. This role is responsible for monitoring the use and processing requisitions of grant funds from sub-recipients, as well as ensuring sub-recipient compliance with the necessary rules, regulations, and reporting requirements for grant programs including the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. This role serves as a liaison between grantees and internal programmatic and finance staff. The ideal candidate will have the ability to grow the role.

This position is based in Washington, D.C. All staff currently work a hybrid schedule.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and process requisitions of grant funds from sub-recipients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with grant agreements and guidelines.
  • Review expenditures, transactions, and projects to ensure program eligibility and alignment with grant objectives.
  • Identify and escalate discrepancies, potential issues or non-compliance events.
  • Collaborate with sub-recipients and department manager to resolve any funding-related queries or concerns.
  • Provide support in the development and delivery of guidance, support, and training to educate sub-recipients on grant regulations, reporting procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintaining accurate and comprehensive documentation related to grant compliance. This includes keeping records of all program activities, financial transactions, projects funded, and any other relevant documentation required for reporting purposes.
  • Stay up to date on relevant laws, grant regulations, policies and procedures to ensure compliance and adherence to programmatic guidelines.
  • Provide support with conducting site visits of sub-recipients and projects funded by grant funds to ensure compliance with program and regulatory requirements.

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or 5-7 years direct work experience in lieu of degree required.
  • 2+ years proven experience in grant compliance management, financial monitoring or a similar role preferably in a non-profit or government organization.
  • Experience with clean energy programs and projects is a plus.
  • Experience or knowledge of the CDFI Industry and nonprofit environment is a plus.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well with diverse constituents.
  • Familiarity with grant funding regulations, compliance requirements, and reporting procedures.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to review financial and projects level data with precision and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and efficiently under minimal supervision as well as ability to set priorities and meet deadlines under pressure without sacrificing quality.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point) and grant management or financial software.
  • Some travel required (15% of time).
  • Job involves normal physical requirements for an office position.

FLSA Status: Exempt

The salary range for this role is $68,300 to $123,500.

Salaries paid at Opportunity Finance Network will vary based on factors that may include skills, education, location, experience, and performance. The salary range for this position is represented by the low and high end of the range for the position level.
