About the Organization Equipment Source, Inc. (ESI) designs, develops, and builds quality, innovative worksite products for the oil, mining, construction and agriculture industries, while also distributing and servicing Kubota Tractor products.

Founded in 2000, ESI began as a heater reconditioning company for the North Slope oil fields. since then ESI has continued a tradition of innovative designs for extreme industrial applications. Our manufacturing line is largely customer driven, based on the ideas, input, and requests we receive. If there is a need that is not being met by current products in the market, we will design a product to fill the need.

Description

Position Summary:  The Manager in Training (MIT) program is designed to develop individuals into effective leaders within Equipment Source. MITs will undergo comprehensive training and hands-on experience across various departments (Sales, Rental, Parts, and Service Departments) to gain a deep understanding of our company's operations, policies, and procedures. Upon successful completion of the program, MITs will transition into managerial roles where they will be responsible for leading teams, driving business objectives, and ensuring operational excellence.

Duties:

  • Participate in structured training programs covering all aspects of our business, including sales, rental, service, parts, customer service, operations, finance, and leadership skills development.
  • Rotate through different departments and roles within the organization to gain exposure to various functions and workflows.
  • Observe and shadow experienced managers to learn best practices and gain insights into effective leadership techniques
  • Will be situated in Fairbanks but must be able to travel between Anchorage and Fairbanks as needed.
  • Undertake special projects and assignments to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations and contribute to process improvements.
  • Learn and follow company policies, procedures, and ethical practices.
  • Collaborate with departmental teams and assist in supervisory duties under the guidance of experienced managers.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to work in different environments and handle various challenges that arise during the training period

 

Successful training will result in proficiency with the following duties:

  • Formulate policies, manage daily operations, and plan the use of materials and human resources.
  • Review financial statements, sales or activity reports, or other performance data to measure productivity or goal achievement or to identify areas needing cost reduction or program improvement.
  • Direct and coordinate activities of the business concerned with the pricing, rental, sales, or distribution of products.
  • Direct administrative activities directly related to making products or providing services.
  • Develop, train and manage staff.
  • Plan and manage employee work requirements and work schedules.
  • Set positive and professional example for other employees regarding appearance, enthusiasm, attitude, attendance, performance, and conduct.
  • Provide training and coaching regarding attendance, performance, and behavior standards to assure adherence to policies, procedures, guidelines and practices.
  • Assist employees with problem solving and customer relations.
  • Monitor suppliers to ensure that they efficiently and effectively provide needed goods or services within budgetary limits.
  • Service existing accounts, obtain orders, and establish new accounts by planning, organizing, and implementing outside sales strategies.
  • Identify leads, manage prospects, and acquire new business.
  • Determine customer needs and propose appropriate solutions, including product development and service needs.
  • Prepare and deliver sales proposals/presentations and follow up with key decision makers.
  • Complete scheduled and cold call prospecting activities to establish first and follow up appointments with customer decision makers.
  • Develop and maintain an awareness of market behavior and competitive trends and respond accordingly.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, customer satisfaction, etc.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and collaborating with key decision makers.
  • Implement procedures to provide ongoing customer support, product maintenance and service.
  • Compute sales prices and total purchases, create and provide price quotes and invoices, and receive and process cash or credit payment.
 
Position Requirements

Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Eligible to legally work in the United States
  • Current driver’s license with no travel restrictions required
  • Driving record that meets insurance standards required
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales or related field preferred
  • Retail sales experience preferred but not required
  • Customer service experience preferred but not required
  • Construction/industrial industry knowledge preferred but not required
  • Able to learn, understand and use computer software and hardware, including proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Able to present and communicate in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
  • Strong communication skills that include the ability to listen to, read, understand, write and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, train and respond; effectively conveying information to others, and giving full attention to what other people are saying and taking the time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
  • Knowledge of and comfort in using mathematics and its applications.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
  • Able to perform physical activities that require considerable use and dexterity of arms, legs, and moving the whole body, to include, but not limited to, sitting for long periods, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, tugging, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and climbing and descending stairs and ladders
