Program Description The Children's Residential Treatment Center (CRTC) provides secure, intensive psychiatric residential treatment for seriously emotionally disturbed children and adolescents ages 11 to 17.

Residential Counselor – Days / Evenings

A Residential Counselor participates as a critical member of an interdisciplinary team of professionals and provides direct services to teens with psychiatric needs. This position is responsible for working directly with clients to provide for their care, welfare, safety, and protection as they take their journey to undergo treatment in accordance with the mission’s philosophy and program goals. Residential Counselor’s implement appropriate treatment plans and goals that are suitable to the age and functionality of the individual as well as document a client’s progress throughout their stay.

This is an entry-level position that provides opportunities for professional development in the areas of applied behavior analysis, human services and working with children with mental health needs.  Starting salary is $12.00 per hour.

Position Requirements

For consideration you must have:

  • High School Diploma/GED; BA/BS in Social Service field is preferred  
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record


Other Skills: 

  • Demonstrated maturity and sensitivity to cultural and individual differences in children and families served
  • Ability to handle job-related matters in a professional, diplomatic, and confidential manner
  • Understanding of crisis intervention techniques
  • Ability and judgment to work independently
  • This position does involve working evenings and weekends
