Qualifications and Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience in a food service or dietary role is preferred.
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
Servesafe certificate Required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Compassion and patience when dealing with elderly residents.
Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Meal Preparation:
Assist in the preparation of meals following standardized recipes and portion control guidelines.
Handle and prepare food ingredients safely and hygienically.
Ensure that special dietary requirements and individual preferences of residents are met.
Food Service:
Set up dining areas for meal service, including table settings and utensils.
Serve meals to residents in a courteous and respectful manner.
Provide assistance to residents with mobility or special needs during meal times.
Monitor food temperatures to ensure meals are served at the appropriate temperatures.
Cleaning and Sanitation:
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and dining area.
Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment following proper sanitation procedures.
Dispose of food waste and trash in a hygienic manner.
Follow infection control and safety protocols.
Communication and Collaboration:
Communicate effectively with residents, their families, and staff members.
Collaborate with the dietary team to ensure efficient meal service and address residents' dietary concerns.
Report any issues or concerns related to residents' well-being to the appropriate staff members.
Compliance:
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations.
Maintain accurate records related to food preparation, inventory, and meal service.
Attend training sessions and workshops to stay updated on dietary guidelines and best practices.

Answer phone inquiries from resident care areas.

Follow all guidelines in the handbook and policies, as well as, all safety procedures established by Santa Teresita
Attend all in-services, meetings and other training required by this position
Working Conditions
Unless otherwise agreed upon hire, staff members must generally be available to work weekends and holidays.
Subject to extreme temperatures ranging from 0°F – 200°F.
Subject to strong odors/smells.
Exposure to chemicals that can be skin or eye irritants.
Subject to hostile behavior from residents and families
Physical and Sensory Requirements
Must be able to stand in one place for extended period of time.
Must be able to be on feet, either standing or moving about, for extended periods of time.
Must be able to safely lift at least 25 lbs. individually and 50 lbs. In partnered lifting.
Must be able to safely push at least 150 lbs. on industry approved moving apparatus.
Comfortably use repetitive movements of fingers, hands and arms.
