Head of Structured Finance Group 

Description

RCN Capital, LLC is a national, direct private lender providing time-sensitive, bridge financing to real estate investors to fund the purchase of non-owner occupied residential and commercial properties, provide bridge loans, and provide real estate-backed lines of credit.

We are seeking a dedicated leader for our Structured Finance Group (SFG) to focus on the development of our suite of loan products including including portfolio term, build for rent, multi-family bridge, multi-family term loans, among others. The SFG and role will be based in our Charlotte, NC office and will report to the Managing Director of Growth & Strategy. The Head of Structured Finance Group role will be a product leader and be involved in every facet of the process from establishing product market fit to business development to distribution. Another key piece of this position will be identifying needed resources and building out a team to continue to grow and support the products in this area. By using expertise in commercial and private lending, as well as with strucured finance lending, this position will grow RCN Capital's portfolio and footprint within the market.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assemble a team and develop a process to source, underwrite, close and manage loans related to the following product types:
    • SFR Portfolio Term loans (known internally as IRP loans) >40 units
    • Multifamily Bridge and GUC Loans >10 units
    • Multifamily Term Loans >10 units
    • Build For Rent (B4R)
    • Mixed Use Properties
    • Commercial Properties
  • Initially, loans will be subject to a defined pilot program; once critical mass has been achieved, however, loan programs will be expanded more pro grammatically with additional resources allocated
  • Develop eligibility boxes, UW guidelines and due diligence requirements for the above-mentioned products after assessing the competitive landscape (buy and sell side)
  • Collaborate with Treasury (Capital Markets) and develop collateral to help source loan buyers for the above-mentioned products; attend meetings and answering the questions of prospective capital providers
  • Develop a thorough underwriting process including the building of financial models that will result in the production of high performing, sellable loans
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director of Growth & Strategy to develop and meet production goals for each loan product
  • Monitor loan performance and propose changes to guidelines or due diligence requirements as needed; assist in asset management matters as needed
  • Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to adapt strategies and stay ahead in the industry
  • Work closely with the CFO and Managing Director of Growth & Strategy to ensure revenue generation efforts align with profitability metrics as well as operational workflows and business strategy
  • After pilot programs have proven successful, collaborate with RCN teams to embark on a wider launch of new loan products after preparation of a business plan which includes a go-to-market strategy
  • Additional projects to align with RCN's strategic initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Exemplary and demonstrated skill in terms of Sales, Negotiations, Underwriting, and Credit
  • Experience in Capital Markets preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in real estate finance at either a bank, debt fund or large private lender; must have experience sourcing and underwriting bridge and term loans secured by multi-family assets and large SFR portfolios.
  • Minimum 5 years experience with demonstrated ability to manage a team strongly preferred

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Real Estate Finance, Finance, Business Administration required
  • Master's degree in Real Estate Finance, Finance, Business Administration preferred

Schedule:

  • Full Time
  • Business hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00AM to 6:00PM
  • Additional hours on evenings or weekends may be necessary to meet business needs
  • Hybrid work model
  • Travel to networking events, tradeshows, and other industry events will be required
