JOB SUMMARY:  The role of the Maintenance Planner is to improve work force productivity and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of manpower, parts, material, and equipment access. Reporting to the Director of Wastewater/Maintenance they are also the liaison between outside contractors and vendors and are responsible for getting quotes on jobs, planning, scheduling, and coordination of all plannable maintenance work performed on the plant site. Through supervision of the Director of Maintenance, they are also responsible for maintenance of records and files essential to meaningful analysis and reporting of maintenance related matters.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Thinks ahead about tasks that must be completed next to provide exceptional administrative support.
  • Generate, Plan, Schedule and Review work orders using asset management software.
  • Create new task and review current task (modify if necessary)
  • Review all equipment manuals for proper O&M procedures.
  • Review completed work orders and close to history.
  • Work with Maintenance and Operations to plan out jobs.
  • Review and approve work request as needed.
  • Project work orders for scheduling
  • Research plant drawings to assist contractors and plant personnel.
  • Generate reports.
  • Assures that the necessary equipment and materials are available for repairs and service.
  • Assures that all work completed in the department complies with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, as well as all other applicable policies and regulations.
  • Maintains detailed company records of any additions and modifications made to equipment, process, and procedure.
  • Works with various departments and outside contractors.
  • Assures that all equipment is maintained in an asset list.
  • Gets quotes from outside contractors and vendors for needed services and repairs.

NON-ESSENTIAL / MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Does other work as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • 3-5 years Maintenance Software related experience for public utilities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively within company, outside contractors, and other utilities.
  • Ability to prepare a bill of material for new projects to management.
  • Windows NT Administration, Server, and Workstation
  • General office software, MS Office suite
  • Asset Management System
  • Must negotiate stairs.
  • Must visually trace piping.
  • Must be able to climb and work on a ladder.
  • Must be able to work around open and unprotected water.
  • Must be able to work alone.
  • Must interact with coworkers and the public with tact and diplomacy.
  • Knowledge and expertise with CMMS systems such as Maximo.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  A valid driver’s license is required.

EQUIPMENT: Calculator, Personal computer with Keyboard and Internal Software, Telephone, Fax Machine, Photocopier. Drive City Vehicle.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. Must be able to negotiate stairs. Must be able to work in and around confined spaces and open and unprotected water. Requires daily lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 60 pounds. Requires manipulations controlled by the arms and hand.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work to include inside office environment and outside facility
