Position Overview:
Join our team as a Summer Sports Camp Counselor and make a meaningful impact on the lives of children aged 7-13. As a counselor, you will work directly with campers, guiding them through daily sports activities and educational tasks. This full-time seasonal position runs from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Under the guidance of the Executive Director, you will play a key role in ensuring a safe and engaging environment for all camp participants.
Responsibilities:
Facilitate Daily Programs:
Lead and engage campers in scheduled sports and educational activities.
Supply Management:
Assist in the delivery and organization of supplies, including sports equipment/kits, healthy snacks, and beverages to designated sites.
Communication:
Maintain clear and effective communication with the Executive Team, participants, parents, site partners, and volunteers.
Field Trip Chaperoning:
Supervise and accompany youth during field trips and out-of-school time programs to ensure their safety and enjoyment.
Record Keeping:
Accurately maintain program records and report on youth progress as required.
Meal Distribution:
Ensure the timely and hygienic distribution of daily meals in a clean and safe environment.
Professional Conduct:
Maintain objectivity and demonstrate behavior befitting a person in a leadership position.
Additional Duties:
Perform any other applicable duties as assigned by program leadership.
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, recreation, or related field preferred.
