Share Email Opening Title Groundskeeper - Parks & Rec  Description Employees in this job will perform work functions related to the general maintenance and operations of all the parks and sports fields in the City of Thomasville. The work requires knowledge of small machinery, hand/power tools, and general grounds maintenance. Keep all basketball courts, tennis courts, and walking trails in City parks free of debris. Perform janitorial/custodial duties at all park restrooms and other facilities in City parks. Assist the Parks and Recreation Foreman in preparing sports fields for games, practices, and tournaments. Assist the Parks and Recreation Foreman in the general maintenance and repair of all park facilities including, but not limited to: Irrigation maintenance and repair Scoreboard maintenance Playground equipment maintenance Fence maintenance and repair Notify Parks and Recreation Foreman the need to order supplies for all aspects of the job - cleaning supplies, replacement parts, and equipment, etc. Assist in the set up for City of Thomasville events. Performs other duties as assigned.   Position Requirements Knowledge of use and care of motorized equipment and hand/power tools used in grounds maintenance work. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to grounds keeping and maintenance work. Knowledge of employee policies and procedures. Ability to use a computer. Ability to follow oral instructions and read written instructions. Ability to use hand tools and operate motorized equipment and vehicles such as trucks, trailers, and UTV’s. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to maintain records.   Physical/Environmental Requirements Job requires the ability to work outside in all weather conditions, with excessive dust or dirt.
