GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Evaluates individuals for potential employment by providing AR Rehab Career Counseling at Pickens. Supervises and assists the Production Set up and Quality Control staff and Supported Employment Staff. Develops relationships with outside agencies for potential contract work and supported employment opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Applies, refers, and assists with application/interview process for job placement. Refers individuals to Arkansas Rehabilitation Services.

2. Collects, organizes and analyzes information about individuals through records, tests, interviews and professional sources, to appraise their interest, aptitudes, abilities and personality characteristics for vocational and educational planning.

3. Performs the duties related to Vocational and Pre-Vocational training of individuals to prepare for job placement including development & implementation of vocational, habitation, education & pre-vocational training. Holds AR Rehab Career Counseling classes for clients 25+ years old. Assist individuals with disabilities secure competitive, supported employment that can be addressed via Arkansas Rehabilitation Services and Waiver Services (as applicable).

4. Provides training to certify Supported Employment Instructors. Assists Supported Employment Instructors, Employer, and Individuals we serve when issues arise on the job site. Monitors job placement sites & Instructors and acts as a liaison between community placement sites & Pathfinder. Assists with ongoing training of Supported Employment Instructors regarding assessment, job match, job coaching, job development and employer relations. Develop and present training material for Supported Employment Instructors. Monitors and reports Supported Employment Instructor performance and issues to department supervisor.

5. Confers with instructors, Waiver staff and residential staff to coordinate possible job placement.

6. Helps individuals/family with understanding of SSI or SSDI to help maintain their insurance benefits while employed.

7. Interfaces with pre-employment program to identify specific graduating seniors that could possibly utilize adult development services on a full or part time basis. Attends IEP at local high schools. Provide Public Relations to include introduction of programs to individuals, families, schools, businesses and community.

9. Ensure that Supported Employment & contract billing is correct, signed, and turned in on a timely schedule by the Supported Employment Instructors. Maintain billing forms and submission to accounting/ARS for the Supported Employment program.

10. Assists with coordinating Supported Employment client appointments with appropriate Pathfinder Departments and staff to ensure efficient and effective services for individuals served.

11. Researches newspapers, websites, agencies, and job fairs for job leads for the individuals we serve. Identifies employers and jobs for individuals we serve and develops relationships with the business and industry community.

12. Prepare and assign Supported Employment Instructors schedules. Communicates Supported Employment Instructor schedule to department supervisor.

13. Coordinate and serve as a liaison in the supported employment program with Case Managers, Adult Development programs, ICF/MR and Community Based Waiver programs to ensure eligibility paperwork is turned in, and ensure efficient and effective services for individuals served.

14. Supervises & assists the Production Set Up and Quality Control staff. Serves as back up to the Production Set Up and Quality Control Lead in their absence and may be required to drive a box truck.

15. Develops proposals, researches relevant information and determines costs for any potential contracts. Oversees all contract bidding to assure that proposals are complete and cost effective.

16. Assists in seeking, negotiating and executing production subcontracts from outside sources to provide skills training for participants.

17. Monitors completion of contract work and documentation.

18. Compiles contract work totals monthly to create graphs to submit to the Director of Adult Development Programs.

19. Maintains and ensures all standards for Medicaid, DDS, AR Rehab Services and all other applicable funding programs are met

20. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of a specialized field (however acquired), such as basic accounting, computer, etc. Equivalent of four years in high school, plus night, trade extension, or correspondence school specialized training, equal to two years of college, plus 2 years related experience and/or training, and 1 to 6 months related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Certified ARS Supported Employment Specialist. This certification must be obtained within 30 days.
