Description

Position Objective:

The Credit Solutions department at Northern Credit Union is seeking an experienced, career minded, results driven individual to join a team of professionals that are dedicated to improving the lives of our members, their families, and communities. Essential Job Functions:

  • Proactively role models by consistently demonstrating individual commitment to Northern’s Ownership philosophy by maintaining a positive attitude, high energy, creativity, and passion for member service;
  • Consistently engages in recommendations, research and implementation of enhancements to further promote Northern’s Culture and Standard of Excellence vision;
  • Continuously monitors and assists with reducing the Credit Union’s overall delinquency by effectively contacting, communicating and working with members to determine the reason for the past due nature of their account and proposing a solution to resolve their delinquency;
  • Effectively utilizes all available options for procuring the reimbursements of negative balance deposits accounts and returned checks and past due payments;
  • Ensuring credit solutions policies, processes and procedures are effectively communicated with other departments and trained to all internal owners;
  • Familiar with, and adheres to, all procedures, guidelines and compliance of collection matters including repossessions, bankruptcy, foreclosures and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act;
  • Enthusiastically participates in and engages in department meetings in order to maintain awareness of organizational and department initiatives and promotional campaigns; and
  • Proactively participates in the continued effort to build and improve Northern’s Financial Wellness Program by building member relationships through education of all products and services available.
  1. Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Equivalent to a two year college degree or completion of a special course or study at a business or a trade school, with 2 to 5 years of experience in direct consumer or commercial collections is preferred;
  • Exceptional communication, time management and relationship building skills;
  • Self- motivated and results driven individual who can work in a fast paced environment;
  • Ability to handle and resolve disputes and problems while providing a high level of customer service that exceeds our member’s expectations; and
  • A full working knowledge of many PC software programs including Microsoft Office Suite and other internal programs.

Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position:

Finger Dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together. Talking: Especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important Instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly. Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information. Repetitive Motions: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate office equipment. Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time (almost all office jobs). Working Conditions: No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.

Mental Activities and Requirements of this position:

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. Able to interpret a variety of technical instructions and can deal with multiple variables. Mathematics Ability: Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission. Markup and selling price; and ratio, proportion, and percentage. Able to perform very simple algebra. Language Ability: Ability to read periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ability to prepare business letters, proposals, summaries, and reports using prescribed format and conforming to all rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style. Ability to conduct training, communicate at panel discussions, and make professional presentations.

Compensation:

The base pay range for this position is $22.88 - $34.32 per hour. Exact offers will be determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
