Business Process Analyst

 

We are seeking a highly analytical Business Process Analyst for SB Administrative Services (SBAS) and Stony Brook Community Medical (SBCM). Candidate must have a strong understanding of healthcare operations to drive efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality improvements within our organization. The Business Process Analyst will collaborate with key stakeholders to identify, analyze, and optimize existing processes, while also contributing to the design of new solutions. A strong understanding of healthcare workflows, regulations, and technology solutions is crucial for success in this role. The Business Process Analyst will be a critical member of SBAS Corporate and will work on projects for the Executive Director and SBAS Directors. Responsibilities will include:

 

 

  • Process Mapping and Analysis:
    1. Conduct thorough process mapping of current healthcare workflows, including clinical, financial, and administrative processes.
    2. Analyze collected data on processes to uncover pain points, inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and compliance inconsistencies.
    3. Identify available sources of data and opportunities for automation
    4. Provide on-site assessment, analysis and review. The position will require travel to Stony Brook Community Medical (SBCM) practices located throughout Suffolk County
  • Process Optimization:
    1. Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to develop and recommend process improvement solutions that increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve patient outcomes.
    2. Design new, streamlined processes, considering technology integration and the unique needs of the healthcare environment.
    3. Pull financial and practice related data data and assist in designing Executive and Managerial dashboards
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    1. Facilitate workshops and interviews with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements, pain points, and process objectives.
    2. Actively manage stakeholder expectations and foster buy-in by effectively communicating process changes and benefits.
    3. Work with Stony Brook Medicine team (SBM) to ensure changes comply with industry best practices and SBM guidelines.
    4. This individual will interact with all levels of staff at SBCM, SBAS, the hospital/HSC as well
  • Documentation:
    1. Create clear process and technical documentation, including flowcharts, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and training materials
    2. Develop and maintain requirements and functional specifications documents.
  • Project Support:
    1. Contribute to the implementation of new processes, including technology deployment and change management initiatives.
    2. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented process changes and identify areas for continuous improvement.
  • Practice Support:
    1. Investigate and help resolve issues with current state workflows, systems, applications
  • Review current financial processes and systems and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ability to handle different tasks with different priorities simultaneously
  • Act as liaison between SBAS Corporate and the SBCM practices

Position Requirements

Desired Skills & Knowledge:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or comparable work experience
  • Knowledge of data analysis and scripting tools (Excel, SQL queries, scripting tools (Python, Powershell, Microsoft Power Apps)
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems or other healthcare-related software.
  • Understanding of healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience with Cerner EMR, Docuware, Micro Strategies
 
Shift Days
