We are seeking a few Mid-Level Naval Architects to join our team on a hybrid status between the between the Norfolk, VA Shipyard and the candidate's home office. The ideal candidate will:

  • Provide Combatant Craft Division (CCD) Naval Architect Support.
  • Support CCD projects and naval architect drawing reviews, test and certification reports reviews, and potentially support PDITs and PDIRs.
  • Inspect Marine equipment and machinery and draw up work requests and job specifications.
  • Conduct environment, operational, or performance tests on marine machinery and equipment.
  • Evaluate how boats perform during trials, both in the dock and at sea, and change designs as needed to make sure that standards are met.
  • Lead teams from a variety of specialties to oversee testing prototypes.
 
Position Requirements

Required Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture from an accredited college or university and 3-6 years of experience in the design, operation, maintenance or testing of watercraft similar to or directly related to this SOW.
  • Experience with United States Coast Guard (USCG), American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC), American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), and Department of Defense (DoD) standards for watercraft.
  • Experience in materials (i.e., steel, aluminum, fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) and wood) is also desired.
  • Extremely organized and attentive to detail.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance required; Interim will be accepted.
  • US Citizenship is required.
