Description

Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the landscape technician is an integral part of the day to day maintenance of our buildings and grounds; Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of:

1. Landscaping and grounds, irrigation, fertilization and pest control, and tree trimming;

2. Applicable equipment, materials, tools and other specialized equipment used in landscaping and building maintenance

3. Safety principles and safe working practices, such as the use of personal protective equipment and other measures

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Mows lawns, weed maintenance, edging detail, aeration, shrub trimming and blowing

2. Collection and removal of leaves, branches and debris

3. Assists with installations of mulch, fertilizer, flower beds, trees

4. Prepares equipment, loads tools and necessary items for daily tasks

5. Follows manager instructions, reports on time to work as scheduled

6. Cleans and properly stores equipment for the next job/shift.

7. Works closely with other key departments such as clinics and warehouse staff

 
Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record; subject to call-in during off hours and weekends as required.
  • A high school diploma with studies such as horticulture, automotive technology, or small engine repairs or related field that would be necessary to professionally maintain lawns and grounds at several properties; equivalent work experience in lawn care, facility maintenance and operations, landscape design and maintenance may be substituted for the diploma requirement.
  • The physical abilities involved in the performance of essential duties are: Lifting and carrying heavy materials, furniture, equipment and tools; climbing, crawling, and stooping to reach work; manual strength and dexterity to operate tools and equipment, and pull, push or manipulate heavy objects against resistance
  • Willingness to work outdoors in temperature extremes and inclement weather; work aerially, underground, and in exposure to bacterial contamination and hazardous chemicals and fumes
