Starting Pay: $19.2510 Hourly ($40,042)
After 1st Year: $22.2790 Hourly ($46,340)
After 2nd Year: $22.8195 Hourly ($47,465)
After 3rd Year: $23.3828 Hourly ($48,636)
After 4th Year: $23.9723 Hourly ($49,862)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

One (1) year of clerical experience -AND- the ability to type 30 net w.p.m.;

-OR-

Associate degree in an area providing secretarial skills -AND- six (6) months of clerical experience -AND- the ability to type 30 net w.p.m.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs a variety of responsible clerical tasks in the Legal Records Division of the Circuit Court; deputized to perform clerical actions; work is integral to court operations and serves to introduce court users to available resources and is the point of public access and court filing; requires the use of good judgment, courtesy and tact; works under the general supervision of the Operations and Public Engagement Manager; may also work under the general supervision of the Records and Systems Manager, if so directed.

STATEMENT OF TASKS:

  • Works at the point of public access, assisting with court filings; answering general questions and provide referral to resources;
  • Receives legal documents; participates in the process to timely and accurately maintain the court file;
  • Answers the telephone giving out general information;
  • Receives and receipts money over the counter;
  • Performs specific job assignment and rotates among other assignments;
  • Utilizes computers for data input and retrieval.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment and of business mathematics and English;
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to operate personal computer and related software;
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions;
  • Ability to engage with the public with a positive, welcoming, courteous and positive attitude;
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and established policies;
  • Ability to recognize alphabetical and numerical sequences;
  • Ability to write legibly;
  • Ability to attend work regularly and work under stressful conditions;
  • Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships;
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and respectfully in a complex, multicultural work environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion.
