GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Manager of Human Resources will provide hiring, compensation and recruiting support services to employees and other departments. Assist management with screening and interviewing of job applicants. Clerical and Administrative support for the Human Resources Department.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and health screening.
  2. Must be at least 18 years of age, unless otherwise stated on job description.
  3. Must maintain an acceptable departmental attendance record.
  4. Must be able to work weekends, nights and holidays.
  5. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.

DUTIES:

  1. Develop, maintain, and facilitate effective relationships, communication processes and activities with all internal and external customers and in all activities. Answer phones, take messages, and direct calls to the correct personnel.
  2. Receive all applications using HR software system, send to hiring managers for screening, Specialist will set up interviews.
  3. Coordinate job postings and advertisement for hiring managers with Recruiters using various forms of media. Will maintain job descriptions, post all available positions internally and externally, and maintain the department posting board.
  4. Provide supervisors with orientation evaluation forms in a timely manner.
  5. Create and maintain appropriate filing systems for all active and inactive personnel files and all other department files relative to the Human Resources function. Prepare and maintain employment records related to events such as hiring, termination or transfers using human Resources management software.
  6. Maintain current database system, performing all data entry relevant to the software system.
  7. Will assist in initiating the paperwork for employment background checks, driving record checks, alarm codes to all tribal buildings drug screening, and weekly reports.
  8. Will complete various employee verification and reference checks.
  9. Will direct all inquiries concerning policy and procedure to the Human Resources Manager and maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
  10. Must attend all training and meetings.
  11. Responsible for setting up new hire orientation and creating new employee badges for all employees.
  12. Must adhere to all established rules, regulations, procedures, and policies of the Stockbridge/Munsee Community.
  13. Responsible for scheduling all pre-employment health and drug screenings with occupational health.
  14. Process the paperwork for all new hires, terminations, and resignations to supervisors, payroll, and insurance.
  15. Responsible for assisting in gathering possible new driver’s driver’ license numbers, running the driving records, and forwarding to insurance to make the eligibility determination.
  16. Responsible for supervision of student workers, community service workers, employment training workers, or any other type of volunteers etc.
  17. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
  2. Minimum of two years’ experience involving extensive public contact, customer service, interviewing, data entry, computer software use, clerical office work, and or any combination of training or advanced education.
  3. Must have knowledge and experience issuing or creating disciplinary actions.
  4. Must have knowledge and experience assisting with creating and implementing policies and procedures.
  5. Must be able to work independently, exercise independent judgment, and meet strict timelines. 3 Must have demonstrated experience using an HR software system. 4. Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  6. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.
  7. Plan, organize, and schedule priorities efficiently and effectively, meet strict deadlines and successfully cope with challenging situations and conditions.
  8. Must have no pending or drug related offenses within the last 5 years on Criminal Background.
  9. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and
  10. Alcohol Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  11. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  12. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
  13. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.

4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
