Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide administrative and programmatic support to the Office of Public Policy and Advocacy. To support the Director/Team Leader in overall administration and offer hospitality and logistical support to groups coming to DC to engage in education and advocacy.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Welcome visitors and screen telephone calls; provide general information regarding the work of the office.
  • Maintain calendar of meetings, activities and engagements of Washington Office Director and Washington office program staff.
  • Assist with scheduling and meeting arrangements for visiting groups, individuals, and staff as appropriate.
  • Assist in the monitoring of budget and expenditures for the office.
  • Review and process approved payment for all check requisitions.
  • Assist Office Director/Team Leader in maintaining physical office space, equipment, and systems.
  • Keep office files and archives updated and accessible; help move the office from paper files to electronic systems.
  • Make travel and housing arrangements as necessary.
  • Open, read, sort and answer correspondence not requiring the direct attention of the Washington Office Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 3-5 years of administrative experience; knowledge of standard office procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and perform tasks with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to edit materials; proof-reading skills.
  • Strong commitment to professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious settings with commitment to pluralism in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
  • Commitment to working in a team and with our local churches.
  • High degree of computer competence required, including knowledge of MS Office 365. Familiarity with Concur, Blackbaud, and Sharepoint preferred.
  • Knowledge of the UCC and its polity and structure is preferred.

 

This position requires work in the Washington, DC Office at least 3 days/week.
