Description

Position summary

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for selling the business's products and is also responsible for ensuring their Regional Sales Team conforms to the company quality system procedures as documented. This position will cover the territories of the Southeast. 

Essential tasks of the position

  • The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for developing sales plans and account plans, selecting and evaluating sales personnel, and reporting sales performance to management.

  • Prospecting / Cold calling
  • Assists in contract negotiations with suppliers and customers
  • Forecasting
  • Assists in closing deals with suppliers and customers
  • Direct the firm's sales program
  • Assign sales territories, set goals, and establish training programs for the sales representatives
  • Advise the sales representatives on ways to improve their sales performance
  • Make staffing and hiring decisions within sales department.
  • Communicates clearly and directly with employees concerning performance expectations, productivity, and accountability.
  • Develops employees for future advancement, when possible.
  • A strong leader and motivator of people with the ability to mentor talent within the organization.
  • Maintain contact with principals and customers
  • Analyze sales statistics gathered by their staffs to determine sales potential and inventory requirements and monitor the preferences of customers. Such information is vital to develop products and maximize profits.
  • Performs duties and tasks as prescribed in company policies, procedures and work instructions.
  • Conforming to the company quality system procedures as documented.
  • Any other task at the request of management.

 

Management Team responsibilities:

  • Directs preparation of directives to management outlining policy, program, or operations changes to be implemented.
  • Attends and participates in company-wide employee meetings and formal meetings of managers.
  • Initiating action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process and quality system, up to and including when necessary, stopping production to correct quality problems.
  • Identifying and recording any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Initiating, recommending, or providing solutions through designated channels.
  • Verifying the implementation of solutions in areas under your control.  Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Any other task at the request of management.

  • Activities of the position affect quality including quality objectives. Responsibilities and authorities include where appropriate:
  • Initiating action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process or quality system, up to and including when necessary, stopping production to correct quality problems.
  • Identifying and recording any problems relating to the product, process, and quality system.
  • Document problem, steps taken for resolution and preventative action in CRM software and notify all parties required.
  • Initiating, recommending or providing solutions through designated channels.
  • Verifying the implementation of solutions in areas under your control.
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Perform duties and tasks as prescribed in company policies, procedures and work instructions.

Position Requirements

Requirements:

  • Education: 4 year degree in Management or Business or equivalent as determined by the President.

Training:

  • The Regional Sales Manager's education and training are determined by the Vice President of Sales.

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the area of sales management, level of skill as comparable.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Industry, product and application knowledge relative to the business of Palmer Holland as determined by the President or Vice President of Sales.
  • Intermediate level of expertise in MS Office and Contact Management Software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct that exemplifies the corporate policies at all times, particularly when interacting directly with internal and external customers
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
  • Detail oriented with strong, accurate clerical skills
  • Proficient at multi-tasking
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Highly motivated
