Description

Stier Supply Company, an industry leader with over 76 years of experience in manufacturing and installing interior and exterior doors, is seeking a versatile and dynamic Production Operations and Maintenance professional. This pivotal role will oversee all aspects of shop operations, quality, safety, and preventative maintenance on all equipment at our Georgia Distribution Center, ensuring seamless production and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Overall Shop Management:

Take responsibility for planning and executing all shop functions, including safety, manufacturing, quality, and inventory. Ensure the plant has the capacity to deliver products on time and in accordance with the field schedule.

Consulting and Advising:

Consult and advise leadership on opportunities for process and performance improvement that will drive growth, enhance customer satisfaction, and increase operational efficiencies.

Training and Standardization:

Support the standardization of training programs and tools across the organization to ensure consistent application of continuous improvement activities.

Quality Assurance:

Ensure that all quality measures are in place and consistently tested to meet standards and maintain product quality.

Team Building and Culture:

Foster a team environment that promotes employee engagement and holds supervisors accountable for supporting all aspects of production. Lead a cultural shift towards a mindset of "We Make it Happen" and "Bring it On."

Safety Focus:

Prioritize a "safety first" work environment and gain employee buy-in to ensure the well-being of all team members.

KPI Development and Monitoring:

Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for all areas of the plant and continually monitor them for improvement. Effectively communicate KPI reports and process improvement plans to management, providing regular updates on the overall plant status.

Preventative Maintenance on All Equipment:

Develop and oversee a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all equipment, ensuring their reliable and efficient operation. Schedule and perform routine maintenance tasks on machinery, facilities, and equipment to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.

Problem Solving:

Identify issues and problems within the production processes and implement sustainable corrective actions to address them.

Additional Responsibilities:

Operate and troubleshoot machines within an assembly line production setting.

Learn how to construct and frame interior and exterior doors.

Provide verbal instructions to team members regarding doors in production.

Coordinate with the door puller to maintain consistent progress on the line.

Gain proficiency in operating the machines.

Properly utilize hand and power tools, including nail guns, saws, drills, and more.

Acquire hands-on experience working with various materials and trim.

Maintain a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy.

Demonstrate a strong work ethic and maintain a positive attitude.

Collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Ensure adherence to safety rules and maintain a clean workspace.

Be prepared to work overtime if required.

Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to successfully facilitate cross-functional projects in a team-based environment.

Capable of collaborating with multiple teams in the company to resolve problems for the greater good.

Experience leading organizational change management initiatives.

Acts as a coach/mentor to develop and motivate their teams.

Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to build strong positive relationships with vendors, customers, field, and DC team members.

Strong attention to detail and solid analytical skills.

Show ownership of issues and responsibilities.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer programs as needed.

Dynamic thinker.

Strong mechanical aptitude with exceptional problem-solving skills.

Basic knowledge of electrical systems, construction principles, and manufacturing equipment.

Effective in both independent and collaborative work environments.

Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.

Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
