Summary:

The Mechatronics Services Engineer role plays a crucial role in achieving our purpose of creating lasting value for those we serve. By offering both remote and on-site technical support and training, this position ensures the smooth operation and maintenance of our customers’ automation equipment and systems. You’ll combine technical know-how with exceptional communication skills to deliver outstanding service. The Mechatronics Services Engineer serves as the go-to expert for our mechatronics solutions, drawing from extensive experience in robotics. Furthermore, their comprehensive understanding of all related Van Meter offerings allows them to tailor solutions that maximize benefits for our customers.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

  • High level understanding of Van Meter’s solutions
  • Respond to and resolve customer technical inquiries via e-mail, phone, or on-site.
  • Assist customers through testing, certification processes, and field modifications.
  • Assist customers with installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of equipment in compliance with technical specifications.
  • Recommend maintenance and configuration best practices to improve product usability and performance.
  • Research and answer difficult customer questions about product features and recommend appropriate upgrades.
  • Utilize a database of technical product information to inform decisions and recommendations.
  • Conduct customer training sessions on various topics related to safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of software, machinery, and equipment.
  • Ensure proper documentation completion (timesheets, work orders, etc.).
  • Record client interactions, including inquiries, complaints, and actions taken.
  • Be the face of our company when interacting with clients.
  • Build strong relationships and represent our organization professionally.
  • Understand client needs and address concerns effectively.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Regional travel is required for training and customer support based upon needs.
  • Actively seek out and participate in both formal and informal training opportunities to continuously develop skills.
  • Learn Van Meter and Customer safety expectations and adhere to them.
  • Collaborate with the team to improve processes and enhance service quality.

Job Requirements/Specifications:

  • Minimum 4-year degree or technical education and equivalent experience required
  • 3-5 years of Electrical/Industrial/Automation background (education, experience, or both) including control system maintenance and or design
  • Knowledge and understanding of Allen Bradley/Rockwell Automation products including variable frequency drives, PLC’s, HMI, and Safety products is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of industrial ethernet networks and principals
  • Rockwell Automation PLC / HMI programming experience required
  • Expertise in Robotics & Mechatronics required
  • Familiar with ARC Flash Safety Expectations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel, some overnight, as needed for training, meetings, and customer engagements.
  • Estimated travel is 20% to 50%
