Job Title:  Production Supervisor                  

FLSA Status:   Non-exempt                                                    Salary Level: $25-$33.50 / hour

Reports to: Production Manager                                            Effective Date: 4/12/2024

Supervises: Production Operators

 

Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor oversees the efficient, accurate, and timely completion of all products within their department.  They are also responsible for ensuring the integrity of components, and that products are made in a manner that supports the goals and customers of Suburban Manufacturing Group.

 

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Implement, instill, and lead industry best practices within the department.
  • Direct staff to ensure production goals and efficiencies are met.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and ISO standards.
  • Ensure staff is trained and cross-trained on equipment and inspection techniques.
  • Run production as-needed to backfill absences and/or meet scheduling deadlines.
  • Update all ERP system information to maintain data integrity and accuracy.
  • Lead the team on the production floor through verifying setups, tooling, quality, and workmanship.
  • Responsible for major changes to equipment setup or sequence of operations and updating documentation as well as troubleshooting issues.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance department regarding the timeliness of repairs, and assist with those repairs as needed.
  • Train production staff within the department, as well as facilitate cross-training within other departments.
  • Direct personnel and manage processes.
  • Participate in and lead initiatives for improving efficiencies, quality, and on-time delivery metrics.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining annual budgets and capital expenditures.

Knowledge, Skills or Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 35lbs.
  • Ability to lead and train others.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques and SPC.
  • Ability to work independently and follow directions.
  • Skill in utilizing various types of computer software.
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Knowledge of machining processes and techniques as they apply to various metals, including castings, bar stock, metal alloys, and other materials.
  • Knowledge of shop mathematics, geometric tolerances, and dimensioning.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical data.
  • Ability to manufacture precision components to specifications in the job traveler, work instructions, and/or blueprints.
  • Skill in analytics and problem-solving.

 

 

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Extended periods of time spent seated and utilizing a computer.
  • Exposure to sights, sounds, and smells associated with a machine shop production environment.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors on, or near, the main production floor.

                       

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma, or equivalent education.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment; 5+ years preferred.
