Responsibilities: Safely fulfills facility requests as assigned by supervisor. Coordinates repairs with supervisor and end users. Maintains and repairs Train engine, coaches and track. Performs routine mechanical and preventive maintenance duties and recommends improvements in PM task lists. Performs scheduled and emergency vehicle maintenance. Diagnoses problems, adjusts, repairs, and overhauls engines, transmissions, rear-ends, clutches, brakes, hydraulic systems, valves, pumps, electrical problems, and other vehicular systems. Maintains and repairs other museum mechanical equipment (i.e. mowers, composting, tractors, generators, etc.) Places orders for parts and supplies. Maintains required computerized and manual records of all repairs. Interacts with customers and vendors as needed. Makes recommendations for outsourcing repairs of equipment and vehicles. Performs welding repairs as required Assists in other assigned Facilities projects or activities   Actual Pay Rate:$22.00-$24.00/hour   Position Requirements High school diploma/GED 5+ years work experience as a vehicular mechanic Valid NC driver's license Knowledge of standard materials, tools, equipment and skills applicable to general and specific automotive service and repair Physically able to perform duties, to include lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs., walking, manual dexterity, pulling and pushing equipment as required   Skill Qualifications Aptitude: Strong mechanical skills, able to provide expertise in diagnosis and repairs. Complexity: Works on assignments requiring significant judgment and initiative. Understands implications of work and makes recommendations for solutions. Supervision: Works independently and prioritizes daily workload. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments. May provide guidance to other nonexempt personnel. Interaction: Works and communicates well within the Facilities team, and interacts well with staff and guests.  Experience/Education: Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience. High School degree or GED required.
