Pay: $$21.60 

 

First: Monday - Friday 6:30am-2:30pm or 7:30am-3:30pm

 

What You Will be Doing
This position will be working directly in a residential therapeutic setting with individuals in need of behavior stabilization with a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. Constant engagement with and supervision of individuals will be a requirement of staff. This will include programs specific to the individual's needs based on their IP; implementation of Applied Behavioral Analysis (which is a highly scheduled, intensive therapeutic approach to teach expected behavior and life skills); implementation of highly structured Behavior Support Plans and other approaches that the team determines appropriate for the individual. Crisis intervention is likely for issues including self-injury, aggression, and high magnitude disruptive behavior. This position will take lead on each shift to ensure the treatment team is functioning smoothly and all daily requirements are complete. On-call rotation required.

Essential Functions

  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
  • Demonstrates accurate implementation of education, skill acquisition and behavior reduction plans as taught in initial and ongoing training sessions and based on feedback from supervisors
  • Implements crisis interventions as needed to maintain safety
  • Collects data and all records accurately following Boundless procedures
  • Organizes and maintains residential and instructional area/materials
  • Prepares and keeps reinforcement and needed program materials organized and accessible
  • Complete any documentation needed for the individual when assigned by supervisors
  • Identifies concerns with program goals and interventions and communicates this to supervisors
  • Performs duties within home including, but not limited to cooking; cleaning; laundry; grocery shopping for the individuals or with them (in conjunction with their individual plans). Packs lunches as designated.
  • Support individual with all adaptive life skills including, but not limited to bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, etc.
  • Ensures the safety, health, and well-being of all individuals; reports and documents unsafe conditions in the environment and injury and health conditions of individual; always interacts in a positive way with individuals; fosters a home atmosphere.
  • Transports individuals as needed; operates Boundless vehicles and/or own vehicle and maintains the appearance of the Boundless vehicle and fuel
  • Assists in maintaining household files for compliance with applicable local, state and federal standards as needed; reports unusual incidents and communicates unusual medical situations as required; performs first aid and other procedures as trained and designated.
  • Attends all training as directed by supervisor (this may include webinars or video training)
  • Receive and work towards goals developed by supervisors
  • Communicates in a professional manner with individuals, team members, and parents
  • Seeks, receives, and applies feedback appropriately and professionally
  • Dresses appropriately and arrives on time for work
  • Uses professional language when describing the individuals and/or behaviors
  • Responsible for reading and following all Boundless and Medicaid policy and procedures
  • Involves individuals to whatever capacity possible in community events and activities
  • Monitors individual’s health and reports any concerns to nursing staff and/or supervisor
  • May perform delegated nursing tasks.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.  
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to communicate in English, including both spoken and in writing.
  • Experience working as a Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist (QBHS).
  • Three years’ experience working with people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities or behavioral health challenges OR a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid, CPR - adult, child, and infant. (Training will be provided, if not already certified).
  • Valid Ohio Driver's License with Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles; proof of auto insurance; insurable driving record (five points or fewer).
  • Within 60 days of hire, successful completion of the required physical crisis management training(s) and certification(s) applicable to the assigned program.
  • Must be able to function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with those served, their families, and other professional staff.
  • Ability to accept and implement feedback and constructive criticism in teaching, and overall job operations.
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must maintain all licenses/certifications /training/credentialing as required by job.

 

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position does not directly supervise. This role will provide oversight to OBHS staff in the day-to-day functions of their job. This role will be the primary point of contact for parents after hours and partially on the weekend.
