Description

Position summary

The Accounting Intern will support various department functions to gain a well-rounded understanding of a Corporate Accounting department.

Essential tasks of the position

  • Obtain a baseline understanding of company's Accounting department.
  • May include, but not be limited to the following:
    • Rotate through Accounting department functional disciplines including accounts receivable, accounts payable, pricing, and rebates
    • Trial balance reconciliations and analysis
    • Work with experienced employees to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures and standards required for performance of financial analysis and auditing
    • Participate in selected training exercises including, but not limited to analysis and auditing
  • Participate in mentoring sessions with Hiring Manager
  • Complete regular summaries of performance and learning achieved. Provide pertinent feedback to manager to support corporate initiatives.
  • Perform work associated with specific accounting projects.
  • Any other task at the request of management.

Activities of the position affect quality including quality and the quality objectives. Responsibilities and authorities include where appropriate:

  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process or quality system, up to and including when necessary stopping production to correct quality problems.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and quality system.
  • Document problems, steps taken for resolution and preventative action in CRM software and notify all parties required.
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels.
  • Verify the implementation of solutions in areas under your control.
  • Control further processing, delivery or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • Perform duties and tasks as prescribed in company policies, procedures and work instructions.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Comfortable learning new technology and working in a paperless environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities
  • Detail oriented with strong, accurate clerical skills
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Ability to maintain professional conduct that exemplifies the corporate policies at all times, particularly when interacting directly with internal and external customers
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion
