Job Title: Distributor Account Representative

Base Salary + Commissions


Section II: Position Summary

The Distributor Account Representative will be responsible for adding new distributor business along with maintaining current distributor customer business/relationships in addition to and increasing their purchases.

Section III: Duties and Responsibilities

  • Interact closely with the Director of Distributor Sales to communicate sales and marketing objectives, strategies and tactics to the field.
  • Assist in the research and development of new markets and business models for profitable Astral expansion.
  • Travel across the U.S. to generate new business with independent distributors, while also maintaining and growing business with existing independent distributors. (75% travel)
  • Design and execute effective business plans linked to the overall sales strategy, with corresponding customer calls/visits.
  • Possesses the required sales skills and competencies to be successful in their role.
  • Routinely travels to visit all assigned accounts, demonstrating the required work ethic, organization, execution of business planning, in person impact, and overall sales skills and competencies.
  • Participates with routine formal performance appraisal discusses with direct management on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops close relations with key customers throughout the designated areas.
  • Works aggressively to close all sales opportunities.
  • Routinely maintains the company’s CRM/Sales Call Management System and Sales Reporting process.
  • Effectively communicates any customer concerns, comments or complaints to the home office per practice and policy; follows up as needed to ensure overall customer satisfaction.
  • Attends required sales meetings, business meetings and industry conventions.

Section IV: Qualifications and Skills

  • Outstanding sales ability
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, freight, etc
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Solid organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of CRM Software and Microsoft Office including but not limited to Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Supports teams efforts; cooperates wand works well with others in the pursuit of team goals; builds group cohesiveness by emphasizing team objectives and reinforcing cooperation; creates strong morale in his/her team and across functions; shares wins and successes; brings a feeling of participation and belonging to the team
  • Understands and meets the expectations of the customers; gets first hand customer information and uses it to meet customers’ needs by providing the highest quality products and services; acts with customers in mind; develops effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect
  • Section V: Education & Certificates and/or Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or four to five years of experience in Business Administration or Marketing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years in a sales environment.
  • Experience in the funeral services industry is required.

Section VI: Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Office setting at times
  • Approximately 75% travel required
  • May be on phone calls for lengthy periods
  • Sitting for extended amounts of time
  • May be required to lift 50 lbs on occasion
