Description

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Works under the direction of the Director of Sleep & Neurodiagnostic Center.
  • Provides supervision of Technologists, Technicians, Trainees and other Sleep & Neurodiagnostic Center staff.
  • Provides hands-on care.
  • Supervises staff in day-to-day operations, performance management, training, staff and patient scheduling, and patient complaint resolution.
  • Provides community education and marketing for physicians and patients on evaluation and treatment of sleep and neurologic disorders.
  • Develops and enhances processes and policies to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for polysomnography, electroencephalography, home studies, and CPAP.
  • Creates staff schedules.
  • Serves as the quality coordinator in planning and implementing performance improvement activities.
  • Manages program operations during business hours and on 24-hour 7 days a week basis as dictated by center needs.
  • Assists in budget preparation.
  • Identify opportunities and plans to increase revenue and improve cost containment.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

JOB SPECIFIC CORE COMPETENCIES

They have earned and maintained certification as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or Registered Nurse (RN).

  • Oversee direct and indirect patient care.
  • Maintains staffing schedules on all direct reports.
  • Determines appropriate patient scheduling processes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex situations and apply policy.

  • Ensures all testing provided to patients is highest possible quality, and all quality assurance activities are completed, and all staff have received appropriate training.
  • Ensures staff provides patients appropriate education related to sleep study and neurodiagnostic procedures.
  • Collects, analyzes and integrates patient information in order to identify and meet patient-specific needs.
  • Ensures reports and interpretations are complete.
  • Monitors customer satisfaction and responds to changes with staff education.
  • Responsible for providing hands-on care when appropriate.
  • Verify study documentation.
  • Explain pre-testing, testing, and post-testing procedures.
  • Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing.
  • Oversees and performs difficult and unusual procedures and therapeutic interventions.
  • Seeks educational opportunities to improve knowledge/skill.

MANDATORY LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

The following licenses/certifications are required:

CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation)

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE

  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), or Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Sleep & EEG Center management including supervisory, budget and other operational responsibilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of healthcare system environment and role of Polysomnographic & Neurodiagnostic Technologist in healthcare.
  • Mandatory Annual Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Confidentiality-HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance. Annual Unit Specific Competencies, and all education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
