Also assists the production department as needed in any area assigned. Essential Functions Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of avocado production equipment and production areas in accordance with company and food safety standards. Perform light housekeeping and janitorial work. Conduct thorough cleaning in, under, around and on top of equipment and belts. Washing and or sanitizing walls, floors, ceiling tiles, windows, and other building features in order to comply with avocado packing standards and requirements. Ensure trash is thrown into the bin dump daily. Break boxes into the baling machine. If forklift certified, assist with offloading fruit from incoming shipments. Wash aprons, gloves, and wash rags in commercial washer for next day use. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of bin washer. Sanitize cooler racks with high pressure washer. Sanitize all coils in all the pre-conditioning rooms and coolers. Clean bathrooms and breakrooms at the end of day. Scrub and clean floor mats in production area. Remove all the avocado stickers in the sizer cups. Maintain yard work throughout the facility. Performs other related duties as required or assigned, including work in other areas to cover absences or relief to equalize peak work periods or otherwise balance the workload. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities.   Position Requirements Position Requirements 6 months to 1 year of prior sanitation worker experience. Strong attention to detail, flexible and reliable Ability to communicate well with others Ability to work in a cold environment Familiarity with cleaning chemicals Sense of urgency to complete task safely, effectively and efficiently. Food manufacturing sanitation experience preferred Work Environment This job operates in a warehouse environment with constant movement and traffic flow of motorized equipment. The facility conditions include refrigerated areas and a wet environment. The noise level is moderate. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position; work hours vary depending on workload. Requires availability to work irregular or extended hours, including nights, weekends and holidays as needed. Regular attendance and punctuality is required.
