Job Responsibilities

Repair automotive bodies by planning repairs; repairing, replacing, and refinishing parts; maintaining tools and equipment; maintaining records.

Job Functions

  • Prepares vehicle by conducting operator maintenance; cleaning interior and exterior; arranging for maintenance; reporting operating problems.
  • Plans repairs by evaluating damage; preparing cost estimates; coordinating repairs with other required services; ordering and gathering parts, supplies, equipment, and tools.
  • Repairs automotive bodies by removing, fabricating, attaching, and aligning parts; repairing dents; filling and sealing depressions; hammering, shaping, shrinking, expanding, filing, grinding, sanding, smoothing, and featheredging surfaces; applying repair techniques and tools, including, wrenches, cutting torch, dent puller, hand, pneumatic, and power tools, grinder, sander, welder, straightener, power, foot, and hand shear, brake, drill press, drills, etc.
  • Refinishes body parts by mixing paints; matching colors; spray painting primer and finishing coats; applying touch-up paint.
  • Maintains quality service by following repair standards; conducting test drive and final inspection; correcting deficiencies; obtaining approval from customer.
  • Documents actions by completing records.
  • Maintains tools and equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock; anticipating needs; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
  • Maintains safe work environment by adhering to work standards and practices.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading manufacturers' specifications.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.

  • Tim or molding tools : Crown spoons: Door skin dollies; Toe dollies
  • Accounts receivable software
  • Collision damage estimation software; collision damage measurement software; Paint missing and matching software; materials management software

Position Requirements


High School Diploma or equivalency


Auto body experience required


  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Must have a clean MVR (2 minor infractions allowed)
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be able to repair body of vehicles using needed tools
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Must have Welding and Fabrication skills
  • Must be able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Basic Safety skills
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
  • Attention to Detail
  • Knowledge of transportation industry
  • Dependability
  • Must be flexible and adaptable

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences
  • Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules (e.g. patterns of numbers, letters, words, pictures)
  • Must be able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate or assemble objects.
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception
  • Must have trunk strength: the ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without fatiguing.
  • Must be able to imagine how something will look after it is moved around or parts rearranged.
  • Ability to communicate with associates and guests
  • Ability to read, count, and write accurately and complete all documentation
  • Ability to work varied hours and days including weekends and holidays 
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds
