GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Safety/Facilities Manager is responsible for evaluating and assuring compliance with a variety of health and safety related laws, rules, and regulations enforced by the Federal Government, which includes but is not limited to: Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), an approved accreditation standard and building, life, safety codes that monitor an ambulatory health care environment. The Safety/Facilities Manager plans for the building Maintenance/Improvement and supervises the building Custodial and Maintenance personnel. The Safety/Facilities Manager works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Health Center Director.

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS:

All employees of Stockbridge Munsee Community must meet the following qualification:

  1. Must obtain and maintain Elder/Youth License as stated on job description.
  2. Must submit to a Criminal Investigation Background Check (CIB).
  3. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug screening and health screening.
  4. Must be flexible with schedule to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  5. Must be able to monitor a work cell phone and respond to urgent or emergency situations.
  6. Must be able to work with a variety of people with diverse personalities.
  7. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, coworkers, and others.
  8. Must have a positive attitude and provide a teamwork structure within the department.
  9. Must be willing to enhance self-development and be willing to adapt to change.
  10. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.
  11. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain a satisfactory working record in any prior and/or current employment.
  12. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  13. Must be at least 18 years of age.

DUTIES:

  1. Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of the Stockbridge-Munsee Health and Wellness Center and ensures facility conditions meet all Federal, State, or other applicable regulations of an outpatient clinic including the organization’s readiness during State building inspections and Indian Health Service Health and Safety reviews.
  2. Supervises Environmental Service Workers and Maintenance staff and resources to successfully operate a fully functional and clean building.
  3. Develop and maintain Health Center plans, policies, and procedures related to a health work environment and safety.
  4. Maintain a file system for building records and other information related to safety and building including maintenance of safety data sheets and the employee safety library.
  5. Plan, organize and conduct in-service training for Health Center Staff to ensure understanding and compliance of health, safety, emergency preparedness and environment-related rules and regulations.
  6. Investigate follow-up and document employee, and customer incidents and injuries.
  7. Trains staff on safety, injury prevention, and emergency preparedness to include safety related to building operations and proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste and chemicals that may be used on premise.
  8. Monitors the inventory of supplies and equipment to include budget management, purchasing, and disposal.
  9. Must monitor and manage the renewal process for preventative maintenance service agreements and contracts for building equipment and schedules building equipment preventative maintenance, tests and inspections.
  10. Coordinates CPR training and monitors renewals for healthcare providers.
  11. Maintain and monitor the buildings, security systems, and key access.
  12. Responds to activated security, equipment & fire alarms at the S-M Health & Wellness Center during business and non-business hours.
  13. Assist in Tribal Community Emergency Planning for Health Center.
  14. The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High School Diploma or GED is required.
  2. Secondary education/certification in management, facility maintenance, or environmental services or similar discipline. A completed journeymen apprenticeship program related to commercial construction will also be considered.
  3. Must have a minimum of one years’ experience working in facility maintenance, commercial construction or property maintenance.
  4. A minimum of two years’ supervisory or management experience is required.
  5. Must be able to demonstrate and exhibit positive leadership skills and abilities, organizational and communications skills.
  6. Must be able to multi-task and delegate daily departmental activities in an effective, efficient, and consistent manner.
  7. Formal education, certification and or prior work experience with construction-project management preferred.
  8. Must have experience managing a work budgets, purchases and preparing invoices for payment processing.
  9. Must be able to keep an updated and correct record system.
  10. Must have experience managing an inventory of supplies and equipment.
  11. Must be willing to attend all applicable training.
  12. Must pass pre-employment drug and health screening. Must adhere to the Tribe’s Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace Policy during the course of employment.
  13. Must be eligible for coverage under the employer’s liability insurance.
  14. Must have demonstrated ability to maintain satisfactory working record in any prior or current employment.
  15. Must abide by departmental and organizational safety, testing, and uniform guidelines.
  16. Must be able to meet physical requirements of position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. This position requires a lot of sitting with occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

2. Evening and/or weekend is required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.

3. Work environment requires excellent personal hygiene due to working in close proximity to others and in an enclosed area.

4. A Tuberculosis (TB) Screening and/or TB Skin Test may be required.
