Position Research and Data Strategist

As a Research and Data Strategist at AREA15, you will be a leader in driving strategic results for our marketing, retail, and executive decision-making processes. Your role involves collecting and researching company, peer set, and industry data to define company strategy, uncovering successes and challenges to company growth, providing actionable analysis to business teams to drive company goals, defining customer profiles and segments, and telling compelling stories utilizing internal and external (third party) data sources. You will unearth correlations between customer behaviors and their interactions within our venue, identify growth opportunities and declines in visitor markets, and recommend strategies to capture opportunities and mitigate declines. Your work and decision-making will directly define and chart AREA15's strategy to enhance visitor experience and drive growth. This position reports to AREA15’s CTO with extensive collaboration with our marketing and retail stakeholders. This is a strategic role that will shape and define the future success of AREA15.


  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges in visitor behavior and market dynamics, and develop initiatives and strategies to achieve company goals.
  • Define and refine customer profiles and segments, leveraging both quantitative and qualitative internal and third-party data sources.
  • Research and evaluate data from a variety of sources, including internal databases, external market research, and customer feedback to create a cohesive data story to further strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Identify correlations between customer behaviors, including their activities within AREA15 and their purchasing patterns, and devise strategic paths to improve existing business offerings, expand to new business offerings, and grow total addressable market.
  • Monitor and forecast trends in visitor markets, identifying areas of growth and decline, and develop strategies to capitalize on these insights.
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing and retail team to provide direction and recommendations for targeted marketing campaigns, product offerings, and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare and present reports and presentations (written and verbal) that clearly communicate research findings and devise strategies to accomplish company goals to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned to assist on business strategy and direction.

  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Be available to respond to time-sensitive matters.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to AREA15 standards.
  • Work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Position Requirements


  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Comfortable working in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment, introducing new concepts and innovations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field combined with an MBA.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a leader in market research and/or related managerial strategist role (e.g., management consulting), with a proven track record of delivering impactful actionable insights to business teams (e.g., director, VP, supervisor, head).
  • Deep expertise in statistical analysis, qualitative and quantitative research methods, and data tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience with customer segmentation, profiling, and predictive analytics.
  • Strong proficiency in data analytics software and databases (e.g., SQL, Python/R for data analysis).
  • Exceptional analytical, business judgement, strategic foresight, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable initiatives to achieve business goals.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying and explaining complex data stories in a clear and persuasive manner to a variety of audiences in person in verbal and written format.
  • Creative thinker with a passion for innovation and a relentless drive to uncover the stories hidden within data and define strategic direction towards company success.
  • Extensive experience in delivering successful strategic work to entertainment, retail, or similar hospitality/leisure industries
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to commute between office and venue(s).
  • Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
  • Must have the ability to withstand high temperatures, heat, and sun exposure.
