Youth on Course (YOC) is a nationally recognized non-profit based in Monterey, CA serving more than 195,000 youth through subsidized rounds of golf, high school internships, caddie programs, and college scholarships. We are currently experiencing rapid growth and have a presence in all 50 states, Canada, and Australia. It is supported with nearly 2,000 golf course partners and more than 8,000 unique donors.

Position: Social Media Marketing Intern

Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Director, Marketing

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Social Media Marketing Intern at Youth on Course is responsible for supporting the organization's social media efforts across various platforms including Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X, and YouTube. Duties include maintaining a monthly editorial calendar, creating content aligned with brand guidelines, drafting optimized post copy, monitoring channels and engaging with the audience, sourcing user-generated content, and executing content capture campaigns. Additionally, this position provides monthly social media reports, conducts industry audits for brand messaging and logos, and assists the marketing team with administrative tasks. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. This position will receive direct supervision and work collaboratively with the YOC Marketing staff.

This internship is a part-time position (average of 20 hours per week) with a max 11-month appointment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Social Media:

    • Maintain the organization's monthly social media editorial calendar for all channels (Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, X and YouTube).

    • Assist in ideation and creation of content aligned with brand guidelines to be used across various social media channels.

    • Draft optimized social media post copy that aligns with brand messaging.

    • Monitor channels and respond to inbound messages and comments.

    • Engage with industry partners, members and donors across channels by following, sharing, liking, commenting.

    • Source user generated content for use on Youth on Course owned channels.

    • Execute quarterly social media content capture campaigns.

    • Collaborate with the marketing team to brainstorm and develop new ideas for content.

  • Reporting:

    • Provide monthly social media reports from social tools and platforms.

    • Conduct industry audits for use of brand messaging and logos.

  • Assisting marketing team with administrative duties.

  • Complete other tasks as assigned by the marketing team.

  • Other duties as assigned, including professional development.

 
Position Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A recent college graduate with a marketing degree or currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in marketing or a related field

  • Knowledge of social media platforms and how to optimize content for each

  • Understanding of social media trends

  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Creative problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills

  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passion and understanding of golf and the golf industry

  • Experience with Canva and/or Sprout Social

  • Working knowledge of website CMS and Email ESP

  • Video editing experience

  • Prior internship and experience in marketing or related fields

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Part-time, averaging 20 hours hours per week.

  • Monday through Friday, ideally 9am - 3pm (but potentially flexible).

  • Occasional nights or weekends might be required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This internship is a part-time, Non-Exempt position, with a max 11-month appointment, and a salary of $19.00 per hour. Some clothing will be provided, with the employee expected to source and maintain a high-standard of attire at all times. Participation in the company’s 401k plan after one full year of employment, sick leave, and golf benefits also included.
