SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Manager of Safety and Security, the Security Assistant will provide Access Control and other Safety and Security services at Opportunity Village buildings and campuses, through enforcement of company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Open and close the building when required, including locking/unlocking perimeter doors and arming/disarming burglar alarm systems.
  2. Conduct security patrols and safety inspections throughout the property.
  3. Liaise and coordinate with the local Grass Roots Safety Team for Safety-related matters.
  4. Support the facilitation of safety and security procedures at your assigned campus.
  5. Meet and greet all entering team members and guests.
  6. Monitor and verify all team member's and visitor's access into and out of OV properties through ID verification and badging.
  7. Register visitors in the appropriate system.
  8. Maintain continuous effective communication with all departments and team members with the coordination of visitors.
  9. Manage and route incoming and outgoing US Mail, courier deliveries, etc.
  10. Answer and route incoming phone calls.
  11. Assist with video surveillance, safety and security reporting, and investigations.
  12. Identify and communicate all access, theft, or other policy violations to the Manager of Safety and Security.
  13. Check security cameras for proper operation daily—report discrepancies to the Manager of Safety and Security.
  14. Provide guidance and assistance in emergency situations.
  15. Provide excellent customer service.
  16. Comply with all Federal, State (Desert Regional Center) and local regulations and requirements, and company policies and procedures.
  17. Document accurate and pertinent information for incident reports and logs.
  18. Report suspected Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation, Isolation, and Abandonment (ANEIA) immediately as mandated by state law.
  19. May be assigned other duties as needed

  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, team members, and supervisors (verbal and written).

  • Ability to resolve multiple complex issues simultaneously while remaining calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to observe and identify potential security/safety risks, suspicious persons/activity, or undesirable conditions or hazards.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations, i.e., CPR, first aid, other medical emergencies, fires, undesired conduct, and violations of property, policy and/or civil law as warranted for the safety/security of guests, team members, and property.
  • Ability to investigate safety/security matters on behalf of guests and team members.
  • Ability to listen and respond to team members or management inquiries/concerns using a positive, clear speaking voice.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential and professional manner and ensure confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and interpret an extensive variety of facts and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor and uphold confidentiality.
  • Ability to tolerate slight to extreme indoor and outdoor temperatures.
  • Ability to endure varied noise levels from moderate to loud.
  • Manual dexterity to work in an office environment and operate office equipment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required: Knowledge of risk management and workplace safety guidelines
  • Required: Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification is required or the ability to supply certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Required: Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification is required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • Preferred: Associate degree or higher.
  • Preferred: Two (2) years of work experience in the safety and security-related field.
