The Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) Coordinator supports safe work practices throughout DXP Canada by implementing and overseeing the company’s employee safety at work. This is completed by coordinating, tracking, and supporting safety programs, systems, and training to ensure employees are in compliance and following Occupational Health and Safety guidelines.
The OH & S Coordinator will be based in the Calgary, Alberta downtown office. The coordinator will be required at times to be available for emergencies, this may include evenings and weekends as needed, and to make trips to worksites from time-to-time.
The OH&S Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Health & Safety Manager.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensure that all managers are aware of Governmental Legislation, Worker’s Compensation and Health and Safety Acts. Ensure that managers have access to this information and understand these requirements.
- Support of a safe workplace through the maintenance of Occupational Health & Safety Administrative processes.
- Review and revise health and safety policies, procedures, and forms when required.
- Facilitate safety meetings, JOHSC safety committees and assign & monitor applicable action items.
- Monitor, evaluate and conduct facility and equipment inspections quarterly.
- Perform incident investigation at stations or client sites after hours and weekends as required.
- Identify, analyze, and compare hazard analysis trends information as seen from Incident Statistical Data reports. Develop appropriate hazard mitigation response plans based on these reports.
- Engagement and tracking of Pre – employment, Post Incident, Reasonable Cause Substance Screening for all personnel.
- Track incidents (first aid, medical aid, etc.) including near miss reporting for company statistical data analysis.
- Support auditing compliance and complete audits as assigned.
- Engage operations staff to ensure timely completion of monthly facility & shop inspections.
- Maintain Safety Compliance Registries
- Other duties as required by Health & Safety Manager
Required Certifications & Training
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety from a recognized University or in the process of completion
- Knowledge of ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, Avetta
- Valid unrestricted license with full driving privileges in the province of issue for the specified class of vehicle to be operated on behalf of the company or a higher class of license than that of the vehicle to be operated.
- Working knowledge of Workhub would be considered an asset.

- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office, Excel, and other computer applications
