Psychiatric Services Director (Registered Nurse) 

Description
  • Directs the administration of medical services of the Community Guidance Center.
  • Works directly with psychiatrists, PA-Cs, CRNPs, RNs, LPNs, CNAs, clerical staff in order to maximize the effectiveness of psychiatric care at the Center.
  • Ensures that high quality, behavioral health care is provided at all Center locations.
  • Oversees the implementation of physician orders and confirm these orders are completed in a safe, effective and timely manner.
  • Eliminate obstacles to coordination of care.
  • Maintain a constant tracking of psychiatric services capacity and availability.
  • Assist medical staff in trouble shooting issues which impede care on a daily basis.
  • Develop and maintain control over scheduling of medical staff to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ensure coverage of medical services and incident to physician billing services
  • Facilitate external communication by networking and providing liaison with social service agencies, personal care homes, state and community hospitals, families, consumers and other appropriate groups as needed on an emergent, urgent or routine basis.
  • Closely coordinate medical records requests with the Medical Records Department.
  • Secure medical staff signatures and approvals of all necessary documents and correspondence.
  • Maintain appropriate professional continuing education requirements.
  • Stay informed of current regulations, policies and procedures related to clinical and administrative practices.
  • Maintain all documentation and fiscal standards.
  • Comply with quality assurance guidelines.
  • Maintain awareness of all Federal, State and Managed Care laws, policies, regulations and procedures regarding clinical care, Best Practices Guidelines, and appropriate fiscal requirements related to the Department.
  • Regularly audit medical records ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Ensure that consumers assigned for services in the Psychiatric Services Department are seen on a timely basis.
  • Work closely with other departments for a smooth transition of consumers to and from other services.
  • Attend daily staffing meetings to facilitate transition of care.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement new program services as needs dictate.
  • Maintain a continuous quality improvement program.
  • Delegate appropriate clerical duties and monitor performance compliance.
  • Evaluate staff on a timely basis per CGC Personnel Policies. Recruit, retain, hire and terminate staff in consultation with the Senior Team.
  • Develop and coordinate agenda for departmental meetings.
  • Attend PAC meetings.
  • Serve on internal committees as appropriate.
  • Coordinate, review, monitor and administer the departmental productivity goals and maintain responsibility for departmental expenditures.
  • Coordinate, review, monitor and administer the department’s operating budget; develop and analyze departmental reports.
  • Develop and recommend program modifications to improve care.
 
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience
  • Experience in Outpatient setting or physician’s office
  • Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances and Act 31 Mandated Reporter Training.
