Position Entertainment & Events Talent Buyer  
Description

The Entertainment & Events (E&E) Talent Buyer is responsible for curating and booking talent for concerts, live entertainment, and events. Involves extensive knowledge and experience in buying talent, particularly in the rock, alternative/indie, contemporary, and country music sectors. The Talent Buyer is responsible for executing deal points, managing contracts, and ensuring all conditions surrounding booking talent are addressed. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, conducting market research, and building relationships with industry partners. Responsibilities include event marketing, production coordination, and maintaining positive relations with artists, managers, and industry representatives. The talent buyer will plan, execute, and oversee successful entertainment events while representing the company effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Talent/Programming

  • Execute deal point memos, avail submissions, offers, review contracts, etc.
  • Monitor external checklists, schedules, and correspondence related to event execution, communicating effectively with internal stakeholders.
  • Initiate and manage market research, pitches, organizational tasks, reporting, and accounting.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Entertainment and E&E Promoter in deal-making, partnerships, and communications with artists, brands, and labels for potential partnerships.
  • Develop relationships with key decision-makers and partners in the entertainment and music communities.
  • Represent the company at key events, settling shows, and providing final event reporting. Oversee contracting in partnership with the Head of Entertainment and E&E Promoter.
  • Establish, build, and maintain positive relations with agents, managers, and industry representatives.
  • Research local bands and develop standalone nights.
  • Attend key shows, set up industry tours, and host key personnel to visit the venue(s).

Marketing & Promotions

  • Work with E&E and marketing teams to design, develop, create, execute, and deploy original written promotional plans on events (with budgetary elements) with follow-up impactful KPI results.
  • Assist the marketing department in advertising and marketing plans for events, delivering external data points on sales, ticketing, costs, and expenses for adherence to the event marketing budget
  • Act as a lead company representative with external multi-channel event marketing providers, including in connection with Admats, Facebook Events, Digital marketing campaigns, print marketing campaigns, running strategic ad placements, and street team management.
  • Collaborate with finance and marketing departments on booking and accounting for all advertising and media spend, ensuring funds are allocated appropriately.
  • Act as a key company representative with event artists' agencies/management firms to plan for content creation while at AREA15 (e.g., photos, interviews, videos, blog posts, social media, etc.).
  • Work with the marketing department and external stakeholders on producing custom content with artists and content creators for AREA15 digital channels.
  • Conduct marketing research on music and entertainment events to support marketing outlines and initiatives. Proactively keep abreast of current trends in music and entertainment events in marketing, social technologies, new media, and relevant industries (i.e., music, themed, and immersive entertainment).

Production

  • Work with production teams and external stakeholders to execute event strategies, tactics, project plans, and logistics for a cross-functional team, including external vendors, consultants, and suppliers.
  • Work with production teams and external stakeholders to ensure successful advance, production, event production operation, and run of shows. Collaborate and communicate with tour and stage production vendors, suppliers, and staff to ensure schedule and timelines are met.
  • Originate and cultivate long-standing relationships with artists, tour crew, artist management, and other external stakeholders to ensure streamlined and clear collaboration and communication and successful execution of each assigned event.
  • Exhibit ART! (AREA15's service standards) at all times.
  • Adhere to department and company policies and procedures.
  • Be available to respond to time-sensitive matters.
  • Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to AREA15 standards.
  • Work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Comfortable working in a creative, entrepreneurial start-up environment, introducing new concepts and innovations.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience working with music agencies, artists, entertainment managers, and music label professionals along with extensive knowledge and demonstrated success in buying and booking talent for concerts, executing live entertainment, and events.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in leading internal and external teams in promoting, planning, and building large-scale music and music-based entertainment events with external performers.
  • Possesses a current rolodex of music industry connections and demonstrates the ability to establish, build, and maintain positive relationships with agents, managers, and industry representatives.
  • Must have strong knowledge and experience in the rock, alternative/indie, contemporary, country music sectors.
  • Must have a pre-existing, sufficient established network and “rolodex” of national and international committed relationships with venues, artists, artist management agencies, managers, and promoters.
  • Skilled in exceptional communications, organizational concepts, and financial knowledge.
  • Exceptional ability to lead, follow up, relate to staff, guests, clients, artists, etc. in a positive effective manner.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to commute between office and venue(s).
  • Availability for varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work in an environment subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, flashing lights, and smoke.
  • Must have the ability to withstand high temperatures, heat, and sun exposure
